Double SC's offer

I have accrued 1310 SCs in my current year and it looks like I might fall shy by less than 50 for platinum status when my flying year ends on 28 Feb. Too new to all of this to know if that is a reasonable accrual considering it is all domestic, but if feels like a fair bit of travel for me.

Haven't had an offer of double SC though. So it's a mystery to me how these things are determined.

BTW, thanks to the wisdom of this forum's members, I have a plan to make the last few on my first ever SC run

Annoys me a bit, AJ said that frequent flyers would be rewarded for sticking with them through the strikes etc and it doesn't look like we are going to get anything.

Disappointing, have quite a bit of self funded business class travel next year and was hoping to get Gold for when I travel Y+ (which is more expensive than other airlines bloody business class from Perth)

Does make you question why I stick with Qantas for there are plenty of options out there, just wish they would give everyone the double status credit off or nobody!

Wheres Red Roo, they should be providing some sort of feedback on this matter.

Did you not get the bonus points offer being a silver?

Double SC offers always annoy people as not everyone will be offered it. We here about such offers on here as someone from here will always get the offer, but it's just the way it goes. It can't be offered to everyone.

I have been comped WP twice when I fell short for that year though, so I am certainly not complaining. They come out as emails. i'd make sure you have opted in on everything.

Thanks guys, so I'm pretty sure I have that all set as 'Go away, don't bother me!!!' That is probably the reason I don't get those offers and no-one's fault but my own (don't you hate it when you kick an own goal!). Off to change my settings now.

So uh, perhaps I should have read the e-mail when I wasn't so tired...but on re-reading it, it doesn't actually say double SCs anywhere, just a 50% bonus. So a 20SC flight would net 30SCs, etc.. I presume. Guess I'll find out when Friday's flights post.

With all the talk of double SC promos over the years, I just read the word "double" when it wasn't actually there...

D'oh, that throws out my estimate for retaining WP...

I'm very close to SG - so close, in fact, that for the last three weeks I've had flights booked such that come mid-Dec I'll have hit the 700 SC mark. the offer talks about how great it would be if I reached that threshold... but I will anyway, without the DSC.

I'm not sure how to react to it. There's not a snowflakes chance of me hitting WP before the end of Feb 2013 (ie, 700SC in 2.5 months which would be 350SC booked), I'm not that rich and we're going into the most expensive time of the year, so I can only really see the offer as being useful to shave a few months off the time taken to reach LTS. Maybe I should cancel one of my existing bookings to spread the money a bit more thinly so I get to fly a few more times but still reach the same goal? I'm at a loss! I wish I could forward it on to someone that could get greater use out of it.

edit: actually, it's very tempting to push for WP. I think it could be done!

What was the actual offer? Was it for new bookings, all destinations?

new bookings, all destinations between yesterday and end of feb 2013.

Yeah. I'm actually pretty excited by the realisation I only need 350SC to get to WP. That's a JASA and a few Ys!

I was with a member at OOL today who also received this.

Important thing to note is if you cancel and get a voucher, you can't use that voucher for the new booking, as the booking ref will stay the same and be as good as old money to them, they already have that. You need to make a completely new booking with a new booking ref.

This isn't the case for vouchers bought solely to use in that fashion however!

Important thing to note is if you cancel and get a voucher, you can't use that voucher for the new booking, as the booking ref will stay the same and be as good as old money to them, they already have that. You need to make a completely new booking with a new booking ref.

Also watch out if you have even gotten a quote for a booking as I almost got caught out by that...

CBR/ADL. Found a relatively cheap JASA that's CBR-MEL-ADL, stay a week, ADL-SYD-CBR. Normally 360 SC, with DSC should be 720 SC. I've got a booking reference but they haven't deducted any points yet!

I haven't received the latest DSC offer (maybe because I'm still under the one current until 31/12), however I did a screen shot of successful registration page just in case.

Yes, it does work and posting of the DSC is within a week (in my experience, see below):

that routing only adds up to 80 + 100 = 180 or 360 with the DSC.
