Double Status Credits for Points Club/Plus Members

Do you know if the points come back immediately? I have 200-300k in bookings and will need to reuse them to book. Don't want to miss out the flights if the points take a few days to come back.
A few months back I cancelled some rewards bookings and it took a while for the points to come back. I don't remember how long exactly, but I am talking weeks/ months (not days).

While the double SC is a good offer, I won't be taking it up (as a current Points Club member).

I already have enough bookings to meet the Qantas Status Fast Track challenge (100 SC for Gold), so have no immediate need for double SC.

However, my membership year ends in August, and I do intend to requalify for the now enhanced Points Club.

I hope they continue to make some DSC offers open to everyone not just do it for Points Club members.
Given the extent to which earning SCs is curtailed at the moment and for the next year or so, I imagine they will run some general DSC offers.

But I also think they're first testing out different, more targeted incentives (DSCs attached to credit vouchers, for trans-Tasman flights only, for Points Club members only, etc) and run analytics on the take-up of these for future use.

Third DSC offer in a couple of months and very soon after the NZ offer.

Rather short window of opportunity. I'm gonna sit tight this time and wait till next offer to book.

Won't make me rich, but the hotel and wine vouchers and the bonus points at 250k are nice.

The "winter window" here indicates bookings are not looking the best.. Prob only QLD would be doing well. Business travel is coming back but still well down I would say.

The only curious thing for mine about the promo is more the audience. I mean Points CLub (and Plus) is supposedly designed for those that earn in ways other than flying. Now granted these covid days that's the vast majority of us (and this may be the key here), but in general these folks probably do not normally rack up many flights normally.. so trying to tempt with status credits is.. confusing? If you're a heavy earner via spend (let's ignore card churns and the like) you may earn those points with the notion to redeem for "big trips" - probably OS for the family.. and that's not happening now.. but throw a DSC promo with a 3 month-ish period for travel seems odd to me.

I can only conclude that this is probably seen as a token/cherry on top promo for QF with little cost to them and potential gain in closer in/short term bookings during a slower period in winter for all but "sun destinations" (or ski if you like). I mean it looks great to "celebrate" the changes with a promo but the target audience probably won't be booking more than usual anyway.

As above though, given most of us may have wound up at PC level but had relatively few flights, we may or may not book, but I doubt the prom is the driving stimulus here (specially with a 3 day booking window which is shorter than most)

in summary I reckon take up would be modest and QF is most likely fine with that.

in the bigger/medium term I fully expect there will be more bonus SC promos so those feeling left out or whatever... worry not. The longer this mess goes on, maybe for another year or more again, QF will be forced into extensions/support again and promos. Gee I'd hate to be working in the planning and marketing/loyalty areas right now it must be a nightmare with ever shifting goal posts, projections regularly thrown out the window and many "Well what do we do now????" meetings.... I imagine.

I currently have points club, but at the moment I am looking like coming up short of requalifying as not sure i can churn a card and get the bonus points needed by end of my ff year.

Im trying to work out if i book a flight during this promo whilst I am Points Club member, but fly later when Im no longer points club whether i will still earn the DSCs?

I wonder what happens if:
1) Points Club member books now but is no longer a member at the time of travel
2) A non-Points Club member books now but is a member by the time they travel

The wording when Points Club was first announced suggested that you had to be a member at the time of flying to earn status credits (and, by implication, DSCs). I pointed this out back in the Before Times:

But I don't know if that's the actual rule as enforced, or just bad wording.

Does anybody in the points club know if you also get additional status credits for using points to upgrade a purchased fare from economy to business and if so, whether you would get DSC for any such status if on an edible flight for this promotion? I suspect it is only classic rewards seats that get the status credits, but figure it wouldn't hurt to ask if anybody has had this experience.

No, you won't. The fare will earn SC at economy rates.

Both cash fares and award seats are eligible for DSC.

Just booked a classic rewards flight Sydney-Brisbane-Perth return in business class for 115,000 points and $143 cash. Should earn (16+32+32+16)*2 = 192 status credits as a Points Club member.

Hopefully this trip won't be cancelled due to snap lockdowns, like my last two trips to Perth were cancelled.

A330 for BNE-PER legs??

nice one.

Well, I bit. Doing all of my bookings during DSC windows, but still a long way to go to requal without StatusKeeper.
Unfortunately, both mine were a mix of points one way and pay the other.
Forgot to mention I tried to voucher such a DSC mixed booking and it ended in tears.
Im pretty sure this scenario won't result in DSCs.
Not registration based and the trigger seems to be status at the time of flying, so it might (should)

Just thought I would post and find out other's previous experiences with the Double Status Credits offers. I purchased flexible Y flights MEL>ADL return in during the Double Status Credit period but have now been locked out of SA due to coronavirus meaning that I will likely have to change my flights. Does anyone know if I will still receive the double status credits on the flights which I will now have to rebook?

Reschedule them (keep the same PNR) and the DSC will almost certainly stay on the booking.

If you cancel the booking and create a new one you will lose the DSC.
Thanks for that. I will make sure have the same PNR when I rebook. It would be such a shame to lose the DSC! (Especially as I was relying on them for the status match to Gold challenge currently on for Etihad Gold members)

Will I get them if QF cancelled my flight and put me on VA, as happened today? Guess I need to call Qantas to request the original route status credits and the DSC for that as well...?

Correct - you'll need to contact Qantas to request the ORC, and ensure that you mention that the booking was also eligible for DSC.
