Double Status Credits - October 2023

Managed to lock in flights coinciding with the Virgin status match with qantas needing 80 SC prior to December.

BNE - SYD - Flex (25 / 50)
SYD - MEL - Choice (15 / 30)

Gives me options with gold status next year with both Qantas and Virgin

An upcoming work trip MEL-CBR (choice) plus a weekend in Sydney (J one way $459 and choice coming back $179) was a little bit exxy but worth it to have Gold on VA for another year (as well as requalifying for QF SG for all of 2024 a few months ago).

MEL is my new home airport. As a gold on both airlines, the VA lounge is streets ahead of the QF Cafeteria Club in MEL. Enough to make me seriously consider shifting my allegiance fully to VA and aiming for WP.

It was good timing hey?

I have booked:
MCY- MEL Choice (20 / 40)
MEL- MCY Choice (20 / 40)

Cost was $300 total. I used my $129 voucher from credit card sign up so only had to pay $170.

Will enjoy a night in MEL just before Christmas, and also got to use a $50 Woolworths Rewards QF Hotels voucher.

Double status credits already posted into my account for the flights on Thursday (9th Oct) and Saturday (11th Oct).

Gold now secured for next year.

How long do the DSC normally take to post? Mine have previously been immediate with the standard credits, but I took a J flight yesterday and the DSC haven't posted yet while the standard ones have. Just wondering if I should chase.

I booked BNE ADL BNE during DSC period and then rebooked to BNE SYD ADL BNE outside the promotion.

I wonder if the DSC only applies to the original booking prior to exchange (which would mean I only earn DSC on the original ADL BNE sector) or all flights on the new ticket.

Or potentially also none, I guess.

Surprisingly missing my BNE/ADL sector but they were all posting quickly (most within hours of landing).

That’s my DSC’s done - was perfect timing for work trips to see clients for the last time this year

It’s frustrating to have to read going up and not down. Would love to be able to get that fixed 🤷‍♂️

Wonder if we will get another bite at the extra status this year aligned to the timing of this one last year - if they are are in IPO mode still they would want to be making each half end strongly I would have thought.

They seem disinterested.

There was one a few weeks back. Some were offered it, and others were not.

I got it and partner did not. Emailed Plat line (twice) to ask she be registered, so we could book several extra flights. Zero response.
