Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

Can someone put my mind at rest or alert me to making a cancellation and rebooking?
I have made several bookings to take advantage of the DSC promotion and received ticket and confirmation almost immediately.
One (the most important one) I made partly with a QF voucher (comp as an apology for a cancelled flight). It had its own reference number, which I had to start this booking with before paying the bulk in $. The booking immediately was attached to 'my bookings' but no ticket or confirmation email has been received. I also noticed the flight booking has kept the booking reference of the voucher.
I called to enquire why I hadn't received a confirmation and was told it is queued for ticketing and will be done within 48 hrs. I am just assuming this non immediate action is due to using a voucher.
My concern is that the voucher reference will dictate the booking and the flights booked will be ineligible for DSC. I have more confidence with someone on AFF knowing the answer than an inexperienced call centre agent.
If the voucher reference cancels the eligibility to earn DSC I would have no hesitation to cancelling the booking and rebooking with pure $, but don't want the promotion booking period to expire before I find the answers.

If the voucher that you used was issued any time before the promotion began, then it (or any booking created using it) will not be eligible for DSCs

Used the offer as an excuse to go visit my mum for a weekend later in the year... takes some of the sting out of paying approx $1k return for a pair of 1.5 hour F100 flights.

QF's pricing into regional WA is truly extortionate.

I can't help feeling there are fliers out there just waiting for the DSC offers to come out before they book

Of course. If you have a known need to travel, and its a destination for which seats are generally plentiful why wouldn't you wait?

I pretty much always go to Melbourne on Oct long weekend, NZ on Aus Day long weekend and am always looking for a short trip between xmas and new years since the office is closed, I book those trips every year during the DSC and use my Amex travel credit at the same time (mine lands in January).

In years where I've been lucky enough to travel for work, I've also booked any known forward work trips as well if my manager approved.

It doesn't mean I don't also end up booking other flights at other times, when it comes to classic rewards or OWA I book when I have the points and when there is availability irrespective of any DSC.

If you plan ahead for the year by end of Jan you can be ready to jump on the Feb/Mar DSC and reduce the amount of travel needed to gain/retain status if that is important to you.

The pricing into regional Qld is pretty crook too, the sweet spot appears still to be BNE-ROK-MKY for a through fare of $169 and 40 SCs, about 4.22 per SC. Those fares are available for much of the year.

Off topic, what has hotel bookings got to do with DSC offering?
Technically nothing, but many people like myself will now be looking to book hotel rooms to go with the DSC airfare bookings that they have just made - so I gave a simple reminder that the QF Hotels triple points offer was finishing at midnight last night - it was a chance to maximise everything you can get - points are important as well as SC's. I booked my hotel rooms in Egypt last night.

That's what I thought.... Nothing.

Very true, but fortunately bonus points offers for QF Hotel bookings occur much more frequently than DSC.

I needed this to be just a month later. March. Sigh. Oh well. NTL it is.
It's a bit of a pain when April 30 is your anniversary - have to wait for late February to sometime in March to book everything you need into April to get the remaining SC's that you need before April 30!

Quite possibly - my QFF anniversary is April 30 so my DSC booking is early April - not sure if there will be another triple points offer before then. Fortunately I managed to get all my bookings done with a few minutes to spare last night.

I've already re-qualified for WP this year (and then some) so I had no need to book any DSC flights before August, so I am pretty confident there will be another QF hotels bonus point offer before then, I actually do not need a hotel until October. But can always book a fully refundable one and then reevaluate when another offer drops.

The cheapest flight home I can get to visit my mum is $431 one way, for a 1.5 hour flight on a 30 year old F100.

As flights fill up it's normal to see fares over $1000 one way.

Anyone have success during previous promotions with a FLEX booking using Amex $450 flight credit then cancel for a voucher?

I'd check with AMEX travel. As a travel agent booking there is little you can do on QF website other than select seats. Any changes need to be done through AMEX travel. The T&Cs aren't promising, with the prominent proposition that you lose your travel credit if you cancel.

Thought that might be the case, thanks for quick reply! Amex prices are INSANE for simple SYD-OOL tickets - QF Biz $906 return inc cc fee Amex $1,551.74 exact same ticket :-(

I noticed this too on another route where QF was about $60 less than via Amex - also dom J. So either QF is using some sort of NDC for proprietary fares, or something else is going on. Quite unusual as has always been same in the past for me.

My Ultimate $450 flight credit expires mid-April. Has anyone found a decent (ie cost-effective) Amex Travel booking? as mentioned above Amex pricing is stupidly high compared to current Qantas website 😒

Looking for a relatively simple day trip ex SYD via eg OOL / BNE / MEL / ADL etc. Not overly interested in overnight stop but could do depending or route to visit rellies.

Otherwise at current prices it's cheaper to let the credit expire!!

I found the Red-e-Deal flights I wanted on QF then was able to find the same priced ones on Amex, by filtering by airline and time of day etc. Was actually $4 cheaper as no fee for using Amex card at Amex travel unlike at QF.

I noticed there is a warning saying they cant book budget airlines atm; but if flight isnt showing up at the correct price you could try calling.

I booked more complicated routes with QF direct and decided to use Amex for a simple point to point return this year. Last 2 years the schedules for flight I had booked for Dec & Jan changed a lot and was a hassle getting alternatives I wanted via Amex.
