Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

Sometimes there is "Bank error in your favour" (rare! 🤣) and sometimes not so much....
Trying to decide whether it's worth the fight to call up and get a refund on the CNS run I mentioned earlier - after a bunch of swaps, taxes should have dropped by ~$100 but the refund was never processed

Just double-checking that QF flights in itineraries starting from overseas but ticketed by QF (081) are eligible. Right?

I'm having trouble with the multi-city engine, to get it even compose an itinerary for me (the pricing I can finetune later), but am happy to split the journey into multiple tickets. If I have a ticket departing in Europe and coming back home via US west coast, the last leg(s) on QF would be eligible for DSC?

Yes, but there's also no requirement for 081 ticketing.

In years gone by there was a popular Finnair J fare to Europe (which allowed QF coded flights within Australia and through to SE Asia) that was quite popular during DSC.

Should be if they are QF-operated flights. What problems are you having with the multi-city engine?

The engine loses its balance when I add Reykjavik in. I started with SYD-HEL / HEL-REK / REK-SFO / SFO-SYD but that failed. I've tried a few different combinations but the only one that goes through is SYD-HEL / SFO-SYD.
HEL-REK should be easy because it's serviced by AY but REK-SFO is quite void with OW carriers (the best is BA via LHR).

A different question (more like a newbie question, though): if I buy separate return Y flex tickets for SYD-HEL-SYD and respectively SFO-SYD-SFO and eventually cancel the return journeys, how much will I get in refund? Half of each or with some kind of a [price paid less one-way as priced on the cancellation day] formula?

With the SYD-HEL where is the actual switch from QF to AY metal?

Ive had 150+ SC credited in error over the last 2 years. But most were due to manual agent interventions from missing credits or ORC.

Not sure if a change in policy but ORC seems to be crediting these days as a cancellation of the flown SC and then adding the actual booked SC, possibly reducing the chance of errors

Hi everyone. I have some International trips planned this year but not yet confirmed. After reading the thread I’m thinking of booking a Melbourne to Auckland Flexible fare and then changing when my plans are confirmed. Do I need to book a return trip or can the one way fare be used as a credit towards a return trip to another destination where both legs will be eligible for DSC? Many thanks.

Had a hunt around and pleasantly surprised to get MCY-SYD-AKL and return, 480 SCs for $1,943 or $4.04 per SC. Fares out of OOL are usually slightly less than out of MCY. The very cheap fares via MEL for 560 SCs I can never find. Seemed to be plenty of sale fare availability and the fare priced lower than I got for the same last year.

Two nights QF travel insurance at $68 for 2000 bonus points looked worth while too.

Also dug up a PC classic award in J BNE-PER-MEL-SYD-BNE which probably isn't as good value but wedding anniversary in PER and PER-MEL in the A330 ensured Mrs Pineapple's enthusiasm. That should do me for today.

Happy hunting!
Cheers skip
Thanks for the tip Skip! Did CHC-MEL-OOL and then a Y OOL-SYD. Nudges me over to retain gold :)

After booking these flights by the 27th of Feb 2024 to qualify for the Double Status Credits or Double QFF Points, how long does it usually take for these bonus SC/Points to hit our accounts?
You need take the flights, not just book.

Then, a few days to credit.

Am I imagining things or have the Flex Y fare rules become more restrictive lately?

$99 cancellation fee, or flight credit allowed but has to be used within a year of the original booking date?

Was under the impression Flex Y allowed cancellation without penalty.

International Flex Y I haven't been through all the fare rules but does seem like you at least have no cancellation fee on flights Aus to NZ.

I thought I saw a restriction somewhere on changes needing to keep the same point of origin, but I can't seem to find it now and perhaps I'm imagining things.

Applying for ORC as soon as possible (like while inflight) can yield favourable results.
