Sorry to burst the bubble but this couldn't be further from
Fight Club.
This is a public/open internet forum with authenticated Qantas participation. Red Roo participated in the 2016 DSC thread and indeed indirectly fostered the notion of gift vouchers by clarifying that eligibility was based on booking creation date.
This year's DSC thread has 876 posts, a fair proportion of which relate to gift vouchers. I have no doubt that Qantas was aware of the thread and occasionally (or more than occasionally) monitoring it. Wanting to go Tyler Durden at this stage is pointless without drastic changes.
There is actually little reason to think that Qantas regards DSC gift vouchers as an issue. If they did, they would have done something about it prior to this year's promo. Even if nothing more than stating that gift vouchers would be ineligible (regardless of whether they had or hadn't changed their systems), which would have deterred most.
More likely they consider it insignificant, given the relatively small size of AFF and the even smaller proportion of the membership that actually knows about it. Qantas may well even consider it a positive, since it secures revenue and there is always a proportion of breakage.
P.S.
Fight Club is an all-time great movie, but it is a fantasy
