I actually thought it was rare for Virgin and Velocity to offer a sale and a points bonus at the same time.

Points bonuses for flying are never that great, though I'm pretty sure a few months ago you were stating Velocity should be running such promotions to stimulate demans.

The best bonus points tend to be Credit Card / Estore / Partner offers.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if there is a double status credit (or similar) offering soon. They used to drop in February.

I couldn't work out why the points posted from a recent flight was more than double 5 points per dollar and just remembered it must be due to this double points offer (and 75% bonus for Gold members)...
