DoubleTree coming to Hobart

What was to be a new Novotel (right next to a new-ish Ibis Styles) is now going to be a new DoubleTree. First Hilton brand in Hobart,

DoubleTree by Hilton replaces planned Hobart Novotel on Macquarie Street

The $65 million hotel is on track to be completed later this year…

Well located in Macquarie Street, about 5-10 mins walk to the docks precinct. Scheduled opening later this year.

A win for Hilton, there are a lot of Accor hotels around the area and the Luxury Collection Tasman can get a bit pricey. A new Doubletree would do I guess.

It's very rare for a DT to have a lounge.

I actually quite like the DT brand, some are a bit hit and miss, but feel they're good value.

Actually, the DT in AMS had a lounge and seperate breakfast area come to think of it?

and HBA will be a more suitable climate to receive a warm cookie than say Darwin….

Maybe relying on inbound US travellers paying in USD.

So we go back to staying in the quite nice Ibis Styles and shun the inflated prices!
(I did have a fairly enjoyable 8 day and night enforced stay at Ibis Styles a couple of years ago!)

Yes, it looks nearly finished from the street. Google Street view from May. That's an Ibis Styles with the colourful stripes next door.

Just found this on the web site

Located in the Central Business District, we’re within minutes of shops, restaurants, historic sites, and the Constitution Dock. Battery Point Sculpture Trail 628, offering views of Derwent River, Short Beach Hobart Tasmania, and Bay Village Shopping Centre are within two kilometers.

Never heard of the sculpture trail - but I see its there; you definitely wouldn't want to go swimming at Short Beach (even though its in "Hobart, Tasmania")! The Bay Village Shopping Centre is a dead loss. They should have stopped at the first sentence.

Might not too many bookings by phone



I'll give 'em a stay when they open & do a review.

Will have to be on the Macquarie Street front side, as the Ibis is right next door on the north, the other possible aspect. If this on their web site is any indication, you'll be craning your neck for a harbour view!

Received: King deluxe room but I declined to get a quieter regular room

Welcome amenity. Small fudgs bar and bottle of sparling water.

Although I'm a local (live 1hr away), I decided to stay here as my Diamond status (from Virgin) was about to expire and thought I would give it a go because I had to stay in the city that night.

No-one has mentioned if Hobart DT has a lounge?

Stated at a Doubletree in Goa India last week for 4 nights, and it most certainly had an Executive Lounge that was oddly near empty when we visited.
