OT:

Goodness me, flight engineers haven't been a thing for a long time.

Remember the fight Ansett had (and lost for a time) with the (then new) 767-200's (settle down, Poochie) and the special modifications required for the FE position, which was pretty much gone by that point in time?

@Pushka - in the vein of what PF suggested about the lazing pictures, I implore you to put down the device for a day or three and soak up the relaxation. This is sorted it seems and please do actually enjoy your break! :D

Well I once sat in the Flight Engineers Seat in the coughpit of a QF 747 taking off from SYD and into the sunset bound for DPS. He was a friend and I also worked with his wife. His job was gone soon after that flight. not because of that flight but Flight Engineers were no longer considered essential. I was living in the Hunter Valley then so the latest it could have been was 1991.

Would be hard to enter the coughpit inflight these (now) adays.

Ogh, and RE: Pushka QF survey, the gall of them.

Ignore the email, and see what happens tho.
Ask for QF SC if they push for a reply.
Be terse in your reply.

Indeed. However in this case the compensation has probably exceeded that which would have been applicable under eu261.
Well, the compensation would have been in cash rather than points - so depends on how you value the points gained from it. Also, customer service issues on top of things could still proffer more than what the compensation gives.

huh? You do realise those surveys are automated and almost certainly NOT purposely directed right? Nobody would push for a reply.

30k points is not enough for you? Why would QF give SC? That makes no sense.

And in the wee small hours, an earthquake here. 7.1 and boy did it rock and roll.
Welcome! There were three in fact - a 7.4 three seconds earlier far to the west, and then about 10 minutes later, a 5.0 in about the same location as the 7.1. Inilah Indonesia!

Hope it gets better from here and get in touch if you need anything, we have our QF DPS contacts here...

Yes, three distinct ones. A rocking of the bed, kind of like one of those massage chairs 😂. Then the big one. Then another massage one. We'd checked twitter after the big one.

Hey - at least a massage chair is better than a Y middle seat, right?

(And Twitter was certainly the place to be last night 😅)

Twitter is now just X.

Thought maybe the CSM on Pushka's QFd flight had instigated the survey.
In my many years of flying QFd, I have not had the survey.
Only when I did the midnight dep from MEL - AKL in Jul, that I had it, the dreaded survey that is.
My first red eye, so I was thinking, maybe someone had instigated to send the survey out to Pushka.
In my case, it was what I thought of the QF J lounge at 9pm, just as they were closing the left hand side, of the MEL QFi J lounge, and starting to do cleaning ops on it.
