It's happened again :(
Third time I've been booked on CX F and out of these three bookings sat in the F cabin once. Yes I know its a first world problem but AFF is one of the few places I can have a little tantrum about it
I'm booked on an F AAward HKG-NRT-LAX-MIA in Dec and the HKG-NRT has been downgraded to a 2 class A330.
At this stage it looks like an int configuration but the seating assignments leave a lot to be desired with me on a window and mini-me on a centre aisle.
Time to get on the phone to CX to seat us together

Those intra-Asia CX flights are always a minefield for operational swaps resulting in downgrades (or upgrades!).

I always thought CX only operated F on HND-HKG, are you stopping over in Tokyo? If so, switch to HKG-HND

Commiserations.
When flying CX NRT-HKG or reverse I have only ever been on a 2 class aircraft usually a 772.We do this 2 or 3 times a year.

Bummer.

Shame that there isn't a dislike button :)

How about CX from HKG to SFO or ORD, if you don't need a stopover? Enjoy MIA!

We are stopping in LAX, and we are on JAL F from NRT-LAX.
Looks like the mini-me and I will have to suck it up in J for the short haul flight.
She won't know any different as the last time she was in J it all went completely over her head

You're already spoiling her :p

Next time she has to redeem her own F award :p

When this happens (a downgrade) do you usually get refunded the points or cash or anything ?
Surely you have a case ?
Or is there some sort of disclaimer in the T+Cs ?

HKG-NRT sectors for CX is well known for downgrades to regional A330s (ie old big J seats). For CX only consistent F service is to HND only. Can you change it to HND instead?

No I think its a case of sucking it up.

No, unless I go the day before as no flights can connect ex-NRT.
Still holding out for a couple of Z class at late notice on the direct HKG-LAX :)

Oh that's a shame.
Still a great deal as you point out.
So HKG-LAX is 67.5k one way in F the same no of miles as HKG-JFK ?

Yes, my full route is HKG-NRT-oLAX-MIA
Managed to get F on the 3 class transcon on LAX-MIA
The return trip is JFK-oYVR-HKG on CX, little skiing at Whistler and a shopping stop at Conrad HKG before connecting to a JASA HKG-BNE-SYD :)

Wow. What a life :mrgreen::cool:

I think everyone will be avoiding us like the plague as the kids will be in tow ;)

But your kids aren't that young any more. No one will mind as long as you're not mothering a couple of young drama queens... :)

In fact, better keep an eye on any young males travelling trying to hit on them.

Only one of the girls is in that age group. The others are at Primary school for a few years yet.
