Arriving DPS Bali on my own on Friday night on JQ Business

I have heard that there is a special queue for seniors (over 60s) - is that correct?
I've checked online but cant find definitive answer.

I’ve not seen that and I’d qualify. Immigration is not too bad these days but luggage can take ages.

There is a special needs queue that different groups can use (eg if you are traveling with small children). Not sure if this is the queue you may be referring to? We arrived in DPS on Friday and immigration was quick and our luggage took ages also.

There was an article in this mornings West Australian (Inside Cover - page 2) about this very subject. I can't find the article on-line but to paraphrase:

"The head of the Indonesia Institute, Ross Taylor was in the arrivals queue at Denpasar Airport and was behind about 70 people when he was approached and put into a queue with about 5 people and was out in 5 minutes. He asked if this because he was recognised as a long-time friend oi Bali who had made numerous visits there. He was told :- "Oh no, sir. My job is to look for old people in the long queues who appear tired and weak and bring them to the special queue for the elderly" the official replied. Taylor then grabbed his bag and bruised ego and promptly left the airport."

I am pretty sure this was a story passed on by Taylor itself, but it does indicate that there is such a line - but only if you are prepared to be labelled old & weak.:)

For those that aren't aware anyone over 70 years of age can use the Fast Track immigration lanes in Thailand.

Perhaps something similar in Bali.

My wife went through this afternoon. She conformed there is a queue that over 60s share with parents accompanying small children.
That said she said that the wait was less than 5 minutes in the "normal" lines.

This is all very different to years gone by where you needed to buy the visa sticker then queue up again. Today is not peak but I understand that immigration is much better on then whole there now.

Thanks for helping

It used to be dreadful with that $25usd visa stamp. I wonder why they removed it and the exit tax. Would have cost them a motza.

They still collect the exit tax - but it's now in the ticket price like most other airports.

Removing the on-arrival visa for Australians took years!

If there’s a separate queue for seniors, parents with children and those with special needs, then the “normal “ queue might well become the shortest.
