Dress Codes when Cruising

You never know, we might get a some SilverSea twerp rock up in their tuxedo and we might mistake them for a penguin and throw them a fish. :)

Doubtful you will see any Penguins in Greenland given (zoos excluded) they reside in the southern hemisphere.

That was a joke.

Black tie = “Penguin Suit”

I actually know someone who managed to go ashore in the southern ocean wearing his black tie amongst penguins. Quite a funny photo….

National dress is not uncommon for formal nights, full Scottish regalia is often seen along with other national representative clothing .
An aussie coat would look good and be a great conversation piece, perhaps we could pass the hat around and buy one for someone….

I wasn't complaining or even commenting on the dress code itself. It is the "grammar" or lack of specifics that is being called into question.

(I'm currently packing for my world cruise. Definitely the fancy evening dress (not long gown), glam evening set, two coughtail dresses, and pleated satin jade palazzo pants with a matching tinsel fabric top. The latter is for the "Kool and the Cats" performance. As disco as I have in my wardrobe!) 😊🕺
Details please. I cannot imagine the logistics of this.

I understood the poor attempt at humour, but the thing about a good joke is it should be based in truth. So given the faux pas, it is possible the joke maker was ignorant to the fact of where penguins live.
I actually think Edward de Bono had a great explanation of a joke and put it succinctly
‘What a joke displays is a switch in perception’
I fully subscribe to this view - hence the surprise of punchlines. It is a way to change thinking which is why so many good comedians are smart as they can think laterally.
Hazmat suit on…..thanks @andye

Before you get snarky, best if you check some facts. 🤣 Penguins do live in the wild in the northern hemisphere. Have seen them & TRed on them.

But more to the point, what is it about Christmas that brings a lack of humour out in people?

I watched this movie on QR on my way to Christmas markets. Based on a true story!

It’s Christmas! 😂

I take it your query is about my packing? Booked a bit over two years ago, finally the Regent Seven Seas world cruise is nearly here! A night at the Biltmore Hotel is included, where there will be an evening coughtail party. On January 7th we have an excursion to the Everglades before boarding the ship later in the afternoon. Only full world cruisers board that day. The same gala dinner will be served in all restaurants, followed by the aforementioned special performance in the theatre. Segment guest will board on the 8th. I am doing the whole 168 days Miami to Miami.

I fear I will have to make the acquaintance of the gym! 🏋️‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ 🧘🏼‍♀️

And I also had them in a TR. Not only that they were swimming over a coral reef when I saw them whilst I was snorkelling.

Only in the tiny portion of the Galapagos islands which is just above the equator, no where near Greenland. The main colonies of the Galapagos penguin are south of the equator. I have snorkelled and scuba dived there with the penguins, seals, turtles, hammerheads and iguanas.

I haven't lost my sense of humour, the joke was not funny and based on a flawed premise that penguins would be anywhere near Greenland.
