Drink Request

Evening team,

I have an upcoming trip to Austria and am travelling QF9/10 for the long haul. The trip over is paid F and the return is a classic award.

Given that my preference for scotch is limited to the Islay varieties, what will my chance of requesting a bottle being out onboard for both flights?

On previous flights I have asked the first host to arrange the CDrive, but never alcohol...

Thoughts?

I have my doubts but no harm in asking, perhaps via the Platinum line in the first place. the more notice the better the chance I would think.

QF F is not EY's The Residence. Your drink options will be limited to what's already on the menu.

...or you could just buy some Duty Free and swig it from the bottle.

Mind you they are clamping down on that on JQ flights...err.....errr.. so I am told.

I do take my an Emergency Martini Kit* when I fly F with QF, although that doesn't include the alcohol.


*The supplier has a patent pending on it I believe

QF F is not EY's The Residence. Your drink options will be limited to what's already on the menu.

QF don't even serve everything displayed on the menu. They offer three different champagnes on the menu while in reality only one is available onboard.

I'm not optimistic about the spirits request but as others said already, no harm in asking.

It would be nice to see QF being a bit more adventurous with their whisky selection.

On a EK F flight a few months ago, the purser decided it was his duty to give me a tasting selection of some of his favourites, which I greatly enjoyed.

Although on my next EK flight (DXB-BNE) the UD manager welcomed me back on board with "Oh hi Michael, I've heard about you!" so not sure exactly what notes were left on my profile..

Apparently you don't even need the alcohol. But this is sending the thread waaaaaay off topic.

For a full paid F ticket I don't think it's unreasonable to ask if you have a specific drink request. The alternative is to ask if you can bring your own bottle on board to be served to you by the crew.

If they have a suitable tipple on their menu it wouldn't hurt to ask for it to be loaded on your flight, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Qantas still include Penfolds Grange in their in-flight wine guide, but despite my asking every time the First Host calls before a fight I've never been lucky enough to see it...

As a fellow fan of the Islay style, after seeing the in-flight drinks menu and what was on offer at duty free, I just gave up and bought a very nice bottle at my destination and enjoyed it at my leisure when I got home.
