As mentioned in the Totally off topic thread (The totally off-topic thread).


Drinks are on Wednesday 17 December at 6pm.


The venue is The Mill Hotel Bar & Restaurant. It is located on Wickham Terrace, on the corner of Bartley St, next to Brisbane Private Hospital, opposite the old Tower Mill and ~100 metres from Jacobs Ladder.

And as mentioned earlier Amex is accepted...

Given I've not many any of the other attendees before, is there a particular place I should look when I arrive to minimise the number of strangers I need to accost ? Eg Inside, outside, etc. ?

As long as its not raining we should be able to use one of the tables out the front.

Yes and no. It is my local drinking place but I was going to mention to the bar staff that if anyone looked lost to send them to our table.

Mmm, am on leave till 1st Jan. Am very tempted to grab a flight to Brisbane for the drinking session. Just have to be back in Canberra for an appointment at 1430 Thursday.....

Holiday Inn is ~10 minute walk, Sofitel is ~5 minutes walk and Hilton or Stamford is ~10-15 minute walk.

Other than that the Grand Chancellor is ~5 minute walk and obviously the Metro Inn Tower Mill Hotel is above the bar and the Best Western Metropole is ~100 metres away....

Probably the Sofitel is the nicest & closest. (~5 mins walk).

JohnK - I understand that you have a number of "where I'm from" issues - I know what it's like! Ive been stuck in SYD for nearly a month with 3 weekends at home - oh bring on the weekend.... back to God's own - MEL

Well I plan to leave at 10:30pm at the latest; or (9:30pm is the next earliest train), last time I left about 10:35pm and I missed the train by 2 minutes next one was an hour later. :evil:

Hmmm.... I'm not sure this is a good idea - oh well what the heck! I have to see the customer this week and if I make the meeting for 10ish, the night before's activity should have worn off...

Well I'm flying in from ADL for the ANZ AGM on Thursday morning and staying at the Hilton. I wasnt planning on staying more than an hour or two.

Drinks normally start ~5:30pm and should be finished ~8:30pm or whatever time the crowd and the mood decide.

Looks like we could have a good crowd tomorrow night.
