As mentioned in the Totally off topic thread (The totally off-topic thread).

Drinks are on Wednesday 17 December at 6pm.

The venue is The Mill Hotel Bar & Restaurant. It is located on Wickham Terrace, on the corner of Bartley St, next to Brisbane Private Hospital, opposite the old Tower Mill and ~100 metres from Jacobs Ladder.

And as mentioned earlier Amex is accepted...

Attendees list so far.

Also trying to get a famous person to turn up.

Well he should be famous tomorrow; in Brisbane anyway, hope he can join us.

Given I've not many any of the other attendees before, is there a particular place I should look when I arrive to minimise the number of strangers I need to accost ? Eg Inside, outside, etc. ?

Richard.

Look for a small group of punters brandishing various Amex cards .... :p

We will be out the front Richard. Shall keep an eye out for a confused person looking for people he has never met before. :p

If you have any problems ask for John at the bar and they will point you in the right direction. :)

Also there is a picture on FT on the addition I made to the Qantas Pub Meets December 2008.

This might also help.

FlyerTalk Forums - Bundy Bear's Album: Freddie Junior - Picture

In the picture we have Bundy Bear; John K; anat01; Wallacej; Lindsay Wilson; and Mal, and the plastic thing is Freddie Junior, with his assortment of luggage tags.

As long as its not raining we should be able to use one of the tables out the front.

You're that well known at the bar ? :p
Yes and no. It is my local drinking place but I was going to mention to the bar staff that if anyone looked lost to send them to our table.

Mmm, am on leave till 1st Jan. Am very tempted to grab a flight to Brisbane for the drinking session. Just have to be back in Canberra for an appointment at 1430 Thursday.....

Some Brisbanite, help me out - where's the nearest accommodation to the venue? **** or better if possible!

Mr!

(Just had a sudden need to visit BNE tomorrow ;))

Holiday Inn is ~10 minute walk, Sofitel is ~5 minutes walk and Hilton or Stamford is ~10-15 minute walk.

Other than that the Grand Chancellor is ~5 minute walk and obviously the Metro Inn Tower Mill Hotel is above the bar and the Best Western Metropole is ~100 metres away....

I probably should not have answered MunitalP's question as I am not really a Brisbanite.

Is this going to be a big night? I need to know so I can make an appointment for the next day with a customer....?

JohnK - I understand that you have a number of "where I'm from" issues - I know what it's like! Ive been stuck in SYD for nearly a month with 3 weekends at home  - oh bring on the weekend.... back to God's own - MEL

Well I plan to leave at 10:30pm at the latest; or (9:30pm is the next earliest train), last time I left about 10:35pm and I missed the train by 2 minutes next one was an hour later.

Anat01 was the smart one las time and checked his transport options.

How many people can we squeeze in a hotel room? And who would get the points if it was a point offering hotel?

Karen

If I can arrange a Thursday meeting in the morning - I'll be there!

Hmmm.... I'm not sure this is a good idea - oh well what the heck! I have to see the customer this week and if I make the meeting for 10ish, the night before's activity should have worn off...

Is there anyone else from interstate?

Mr!

:p

Another point they have a small menu so at least you can buy something for dinner.

Wotif has the Hilton at <$200

I might swing that past the PA to book me in...

Want to share a cab to the event rwatts?

Mr!

Drinks normally start ~5:30pm and should be finished ~8:30pm or whatever time the crowd and the mood decide.

Looks like we could have a good crowd tomorrow night.
