Realistically, BNK will never have a Lounge. Ever. Though I do know your tongue was firmly placed in cheek. Realistically, I could see up to three 100-seat services operating SYD-BNK in a day, especially given the number of escaping catchment to OOL. 1 overnight, 1 morning round-trip and 1 evening round-trip. It's realistic.
JQ is going up to 3 daily next year.
Making it difficult for the higher cost virgin to add capacity, infact it wouldn't surprise me if they pulled/ significantly changed the route.
I don't understand the attractiveness of the ballina/'Byron' airport because Byron & all the coastal resorts between the border and there are just as accessible from OOL. OOL is also generally more cheaper.
I would prefer double daily atrs even if it was a SYD-LSY-BNK service.
But yes, definitely never ever going to be a lounge. Unless another costal property boom like we saw between 1995-2007?

Not really, there are many in the catchment who won't fly JQ and have DJ status (such as yourself). They presently travel to OOL because of the more convenient flight times. DJ, using smaller jet aircraft, could easily compete with JQ - because JQ will not be able to attract the business market, nor the DJ loyalists that presently travel to OOL. Sure, it would eat into OOLs passenger numbers, but I think that gap can be filled easily enough. BNK is just a much easier airport to use than OOL and far more pleasant to move through. I think pigs will fly before DJ send ATRs to BNK. Then they have no hope of competing with JQ. And they won't do LSY either - passenger numbers decreasing thanks to cheapies out of BNK. Sorry.
Anyways, just realised that discussions of Northern NSW flights are wayyyyy off the topic of a DRW Lounge.
