Dubai Stopover Y/N?

I'm stopping over in Dubai for 3 days in early October, so I'm watching this thread with interest. I'm seriously considering this - https://www.platinum-heritage.com/heritage-collection-desert-safari/overnight-desert-safari for one of my nights. Apart from that, I think I'll be wandering the souks and trying to stay cool.

I did a review of Platinum heritage evening trip in the Burj Khalifa review in my sig. We were shown the sleeping huts. I'd be more than happy to do an overnight with them. The Souks aren't really cool places but think October will be starting to cool off anyway.

See the place once for a max of 2 days once, then transit through only..

Not a place I'll ever intentionally visit again.

Can't see much at all in 2 days. Hardly a fair assessment.

Thanks for that info SuePa....certainly looks appealing..we have 4 days in Dubai in mid October after a Rhine cruise .

Thanks, Pushka. I think it was your review that put me on to Heritage in the first place. I think I'll keep my souk wandering to evenings. It seems 'cooler' is a relative term in Dubai, but hopefully evening wanders will be cooler. I'll be on my way home from Iceland and Norway so maybe I'll enjoy the warm up, but I doubt it.

Scruffy, the Heritage overnight looks pretty good. I contacted them with a question about whether they could cater for a solo female traveller and received a very quick reply - 'No problem"

I used to live in the Middle East and Dubai seems like a vegemite/marmite sort of place, some people love whilst others hate it. There is plenty to see and do to keep you occupied and at least worth seeing once and experiencing a new culture.
As for the heat in summer, it's no real biggie. You will go from air conditioned car to air conditioned mall and the morning or evenings on the beach will be perfectly fine (except maybe if you are ginger). Even the bus stops are air conditioned and there are an increasing number of enclosed air conditioned walkways in the city.
The fountain show at Dubai Mall is pretty awesome, the indoor ski slope in Mall of the Emirates is worth it even if just for a coffee. Dune bashing in a 4x4 can be great fun. Plenty of places to eat, drink and walk throughout the city (Irish Village was a regular of mine, although often full of cabin crew).
The only thing I'd say is that unless you are experienced in defensive driving, then don't bother renting a car and just catch taxis or use the metro. The Sheikh Zayed Highway can be overwhelming at rush hour.

As a solo female you will be perfectly fine. We did the opposite - went from 43 in Dubai to a cold 15 (summer temp) in Stockholm.

We are just back and had 3 nights 2 full days Glad we went but boy it was hot 46 degrees every day I thought it was amazing as a first time visitor just the sheer size of it all. We did the ho ho bus over 2 days to try and see as much as we could and would recommend that as air conditioned if you sit up top and at the front of the bus. Think it was a city sightseeing red bus We stayed at the Hilton on the Walk Would recommend the exec room with club access as was a good place at the end of the day for a few drinks and something to eat Taxis were cheap too and it was good to break the trip up
