Duty Free - Hong Kong/Singapore

I've just flown through HK. I was importuned while walking past a DF store in the transit area. I just said "Australia..." and the lass smiled and said, "Sorry". And, as usual, carry on bags were hand-searched on the boarding ramp. On board I found Qantas's DF prices pretty reasonable although the selection is of course limited.

However, I fooled 'em. I bought liquor at a Carrefour supermarket in Taipei packed it in my checked case and sent it through to Melbourne. You could do the same in HK. And supermarket prices were 10-15% cheaper than so-called duty free anyway, e.g., AUD $22 for a 700cc bottle of Tanqueray.
