That’s bizarre! It seems to go against all the written policies.

The domestic only pax get screened to international requirements but the transit passengers from LHR don’t.

Well, we got screened in LHR!

I did ask specifically about the lack of screening and it was due to the pax getting off the plane and straight back on without mixing with other pax. I.e. we were 'contained' in the transit lounge.

It’s really unique. A private Qantas from LHR only transit area.

AirNZ used to operate one at LAX T2 on their 'direct' flights between AKL and LHR.

So the pax didn’t need to go landslide? That would be very convenient in the USA!

It’s still odd that pax from LHR don’t need to be rescreened when transiting in PER. When transiting from OS in other cities, even on a direct flight, I’ve always been rescreened. Maybe that’s due to the airport’s layout?

It was more like a 'waiting room' rather than a lounge. Those wanting Lounge benefits (such as a shower) had to run the gauntlet of US CBP and the TSA.

It seems that CBR international is similar for transit pax to and from NZ. My guess is that it’s to do with airport design/layout as it’s not the case in other cities (eg SYD, MEL, ADL) where transit pax are re-screened.

Are they rescreened in ADL? In PER they were claiming the transit was similar to ADL - i.e. no rescreening.
