Got this email this afternoon

The festive season is almost upon us and with that comes the last minute rush to find the perfect gift. With a little bit of help from our friends at David Jones, that gift could bring you extra joy with double Points^ for every $1 you spend instore or online from Thursday, 13 December 2012 to Sunday, 16 December 2012.

To receive the double Points^, shop online at davidjones.com.au or visit one of the many David Jones stores and use your American Express Card+ for all your purchases.

Not sure if targeted, but T&Cs do say

+This offer is only available for American Express Platinum Edge Cardmembers, American Express Platinum Reserve Cardmembers, American Express Velocity Platinum Cardmembers, Qantas American Express Discovery Cardmembers and Qantas American Express Premium Cardmembers.

I got this as well - I would check with Amex to see if it's genuine - I'm a little paranoid about emails with links and Amex CSRs have told me they don't send emails with links... I just deleted.

Every email I get from Amex marketing something has link/s to the website/promotion etc etc

They will send emails with promotional links, however they won't send links asking you to login or to 'verify your details' etc

OK, thanks - I see the distinction. I am very wary of any promo emails: I have 2 this year (Amex) which looked quite genuine and of interest to me but did not appear on the Amex rewards page. I checked with the call centre who told me no such promo linked to my account, hence my caution. Since then, I check with the call centre if anything of interest arrives and the CSR has simply registered me for the promo while on the phone each time. I have generally had very good service from Amex CSRs and call response in good time, so it's no hardship to call and check.

Those were probably legitimate promotions. You can generally hover over a link to see where it sends you, you know. Links aren't magical virus machines, you still need to load the dodgy page before you cna be infected generally.

I also wouldn't trust AMEX CSRs to know what promotions are available at any given time. They give advice such as "any promotion is tied to your account, not the card number" which is clearly wrong for things such as the $25 credit for $50 spend at Target etc, as you cna have supp cards registered too that will earn the bonus.

And it is worth noting that the DJs promo only requires spend - no registration or anything so even if the email was dodgy the worst that could happen is you don't get bonus points...

This would achieve nothing for a fraudster other than knowing they created lots of mad AFFers

Did a bit of DJ's shopping on the 15th but no bonus points posted, just the standard points.
Anyone else in the same boat?
Don’t know if it’s worth the hassle ringing up....

Mine posted after a weekend shopping trip at DJs

I did some shopping over the 14/12/12 and have not seen and bonus points added to my purchases. I have a Centurion Charge Card though. It might only be avaliable to Amex Credit Card Customers.

This promotion is back .. 20-23 Dec. my guess is its bringing business to DJs they aren't seeing otherwise.

Double Points for online purchases only on DJs AMEX today only (order by midnight I guess).
