I have since realised on my recent trip (3 weeks ago) I stayed in a "partner hotel" which would have earned me 1000 pts. Am I able to redeem these after the fact or is it too late? The website advises to present QFF card on hotel check-in which I didn't do. I also read through the T&C and could not see anything related to my query.

Any one know?

Cheers!

You should have no problem what so ever.

All you need to do is fax the tax invoice for the hotel stay to 1300 305 747 with a little note on the fax stating your FF number and that you have not received FF points for this hotel stay. If it is a qualifying hotel stay they generally credit the FF points within a few days. The only hotels I have had a problem with in the past have been some Accor hotels.

Wow! Faxed my hotel invoice to QFF last night. Had the 1000 points in my account this afternoon.

Obviously they have very few claims to process at the moment ;)

Thanks again John.

No worries. The same happened with me. I faxed off the tax invoice last night and the FF points posted this morning but it took another phone call to ensure that bonus points were posted as I stayed at the hotel during a double points promotion.

I had a similar problem last year. Stayed at a Port Macquaire hotel booked thru Qantas website. However, as I had no charges at the hotel during my stay, there was no invoice issued.

I did noticed that in my booking confirmation from Qantas Holidays, my frequent flyer number had been noted. At that time I had assume that it was 3 points for every dollar spent AT the hotel ie minibar, parking, internet etc and not for the actual cost of the hotel room itself.

Now having read this, I feel I have missed out on some deserved points.

Cheers

Take note that some hotels are not QF partners so not all hotels booked through Qantas Holidays will earn FF points.

It was the Observatory Hotel. When I was booking it, it had the Qantas FF Bonus 3 Points per dollar spent symbol on it. Thats one of the reasons I booked it.

I guess its too late to file for missing points given the stay was back in Sep last year ? :( But it should be in the Qantas bookings system, no ?

The Observatory is a partner hotel.

The terms and conditions do state 6 months time limit for qualifying partner activity. Although you lose nothing by faxing the tax invoice for the hotel stay to 1300 305 747 and mentioning that the FF points have not posted to your account. I think you do have a good case as your FF number was in the booking. Worst case scenario is they refuse to credit the FF points.

Thanks JohnK. Will send off an email and see whether they will look at it.

Cheers !

Well, Qantas did credit me the points I missed out on upon my follow up. Thanks to this thread, I picked up some missing points even 7 months after my stay ! :D

Thanks again....
Cheers

Partners pay Qantas for the points and it is in Qantas interests to credit as many partner points as they can.

I'm confused.. if it says '3 points per dollar spent at Hotel X' does this mean the room rate or just the extras like room service, breakfast, mini bar etc?

what about partner hotels booked through wotif?

i thought you couldn't claim QFF points for those bookings

Thats what I had thought but after reading this thread, 3 points per dollar includes the room costs and all incidentals charged to the room. Hence I was able to have Qantas credit me the missing points for the room rate.

Generally not ( I say generally, as there will always be someone around who got them one way or another! )

Somtimes the QFF points on ineligible stays simply show up. Treat it like a (small) lottery win.

It all depends on the hotel or the person at check out. I think the fine print does mention that GST amount is/could be excluded.

For stays Metro Hotel Tower Mill Brisbane FF points are earned on all charges less GST. For stays at hotels like Best Westerns FF points are earned on all charges but this varies from property to property and sometimes I find the incidental charges have not been included so if a significant amount you may need to follow up.

In theory no FF points for bookings not made directly with hotel, QF Holidays or Ready Rooms. It is a possibility that some people may accidentally received FF points for ineligible hotel stays.

Another example is some Accor hotels where even if you book on the Accor website no FF points are earned as only rack rates are eligible.

Guys, thanks to this thread prompting me I went back and found an eligible conference stay at an Accor hotel and faxed it off to QFF. Got my room points plus I had actually paid for the entire conference. Accor awarded the FF points also on the conference.

As it was all paid on the Amex, it was quite a handy earner.

Have just submitted one to Hospitality Inn Port Hedland (Best Western), will be interesting to see how long it takes to post...
