Hi all,

Am looking at booking some Finnair flights and I notice they are code-share Flybe, although with Finnair flight number. Does anyone know if there will be QFF point or SC earn on these?

Thanks,
V

With Finnair there is no QFF points or SC earning if codeshare flight is not on oneworld metal. Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Fly - Airline Partners

This rule more or less applies across the alliance.

Generally:
- Codeshares operated by another oneworld airline will earn points and status credits/tier points in all oneworld programs (subject to being in earning fare category)
- Codeshares operated by a non-oneworld carrier may earn points/status credits in the FF program of the marketing carrier, but not other oneworld FF programs.

So flights sold under codes of Finnair (operated by FlyBe), Iberia (operated by Vueling), Cathay Pacific (operated by Air China) , etc , will only earn in Finnair, Iberia and Cathay programs respectively. Likewise Qantas (operated by Emirates) or Qantas (operated by Jetstar) etc will generally only earn in QFF.

I guess AA is the only exception

Just thought I'd cement it for you with experience of my own. I was flying KUO - xHEL - CPH on AY codes last month, with the first segment being operated by Flybe. Whilst it took a good week or two to post, the extra 53pts and 10SC came through. Fast track to WP, I tell you!

So then I guess Flybe is the equivalent of Qantas Link or American Eagle. These things can get so confusing... Just when I thought I was starting to know what I was talking about...

It seems that there's a few different Flybes :) I was curious about this too (for HEL-xx flights), so I checked the OW website, and Flybe Finland is an affliate member (so it makes sense for KUO-HEL to credit). Other Flybe airlines won't credit (I strongly suspect):
oneworld airline affiliates - oneworld

Edit: further searching, and I'm not sure there is a Flybe Finland per se. I think it's Flybe Nordic (the former Finncomm). So flights like HEL-BRU (operated by Flybe Nordic) would credit. But regular Flybe (out of the UK) would not.

think you're onto something here :)

I never realised there were so many OW affiliate airlines. At least some airlines keep it simple : Malaysia Airlines and Royal Jordanian have no affiliates.

Thanks for all the responses. Slightly annoying that there doesn't seem a simple answer to the question (via the airlines / OW)...I would pay more for a ticket guaranteed to earn QFF points / SC, but I'm not willing to pay more for a ticket that may earn QFF points / SC's

I think it's fairly simple: Flybe Finland credits, and all other Flybe doesn't (as it's not an affiliate airline).

What are the actual routes/flights you are looking at?

Flybe seem to be struggling in the UK at present.

KRK - HEL & HEL - OSL so assuming as they both involve origin or destination in Finland should Flybe Finland.

Unfortunately, the AY website appears to offer little help.

Flights to both Oslo and Manchester are simply listed as "operated by Flybe" - no indication whether this is the buoyant, fit & healthy, full-SC earning nordic variant or some puny, ailing, non-SC earning UK version.

Regards,

puny BD

Thanks BD (for the giggle as well as the info :p)
