Sure seems to be something like that. For MEL-PER it went from quite good availability on multiple days and flights in 2022 to zero within a matter of hours.

For MEL-PER here's still good good availability on multiple days and flights from 1st May 2023.

FYI - Travel dates: 10 October to 14 December 2022 (excluding flights between Hobart and Perth – 30 October to 13 December 2022), 01 February to 30 March 2023, and 01 May to 16 June 2023.

Given the speed at which fares sold out I imagine most of them got sold to people who would have travelled to WA anyway for home/family/work. I'm not sure the government got good value for money if their intention was to attract tourists.

Apparently there are still Perth Sale fares left despite the sold out banner. Mostly for May 2023 as of this post.

Just managed to book one RT from SYD.

I'm currently WA based and supposed to have two QF points booking return PER-SYD. But I ended up booking this sale ($354 incl card fee) and a points booking return to align the schedule (36k pts + $87 tax).

So effectively 2 trips x PER-SYD for $441 + points.

Was tempted to book another one, but don't wanna be greedy as I'm not the target market. We have multiple staycations in WA lined up so don't worry WA people
