Economy class on the 787

I would rather the wider seats and the 2-4-2 seat arrangement in a similarly fitted out A330.

pitch and IFE look nice but agree the 3-3-3 is a negative

Similar to the air India layout of 3-3-3. Wasn't that a favourite of the 777?

As an aside, Ethiopian were a well run airline for many years with close links to TWA I believe, without resorting to google!

Not as bad as Air NZ's 3-4-3... how do they get away with that?

Looks like every other whY class cabin to me - and not somewhere I would choose to be...

The seats seem to get more and more slimline

Oops I mean less and less wide...

Neither of the two guys with their backs to us looks to have particularly broad shoulders, but neither of them would look to fit in one of those seats.

For economy long-haul trips I have been picking airlines (and paying a premium where necessary) based on seat width more than leg room, and this looks to confirm for me that 3-3-3 on a 787 is another configuration to avoid.

My first thought is: "3 hours max. And you better don't end up in one of those middle seats with a fat... I mean with an overweight person next to you."

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly looking forwards to my first B787 flight, (it's a tick in the box thing), but that Y looks like just about every other Y out there which has IFE in the back of the seat in front. Yes, they are bigger windows, but I do find it a little hard to get excited over essentially a B767 replacement.

Why don't we then save a lot of money and simply keep our old 767s for a bit longer, maybe freshen up the interior cabins a bit and no one will notice anyway? ;)

Don't need to worry about it for a while however, if QF had this & their old 767 on the same route......I would select 767 everyday of the week! No different to now where I prefer/select 767 over 737.

Maintenance & fuel cost - I suspect.

Well add in a little bit of black paint over some 6's in-between some 7's and I doubt most people would be able to tell the difference. It's of a similar size, and has two engines... Nuff said...

How do they make photos look nothing reality? Those seats look spacious but I am willing to bet right now that will not be the case once on board.

That being said I have been looking at having a flight on Ethiopean (and Kenyan Airways) in SE Asia but I don't think they have/will have the 787s on those routes.
