How do they make photos look nothing reality?

Take a photo from a good angle, and use a good quality wide angle lens and you could make the lavatories on a 737 look spacious.

I always laugh (quietly and only to myself) when ever I see someone trying to judge the size of something based on a photo, most year 12 photography students (well, the ones I was with when I was in year 12, studying photography) could do similar effects and distortions, and that was before the days of photoshop.
