My family travelled on QF36 in both classes. Was a bit suprised the choices for the dinner were the same except Neil's leaves!
I travelled in Premium and enjoyed the hot breakfast though. I felt that was better than the usual egg and bacon roll in J! Not sure what happened here.

Interesting. I had always thought PE got meals closer to J, but it seems that's not the case. Thanks for sharing.

Generally from what I've seen personally (same routes over a few days in mixed cabins) + some online flight reviews, there's atleast 1 or 2 economy meals that are the exact same as the Y+ meals... despite all the Qantas marketing saying how much better their product is. Having the same meal in both cabins falls in line with quite a few other airlines e.g Singapore, Lufthansa.

From a VGML perspective, usually the exact same main meal as economy (size as well), just in a ceramic dish as opposed to a plastic.

It did, indeed, use to be the equivalent of QF domestic business class catering. Along with champagne.

looks like they've downgraded that now. Perhaps because they've 'upgraded' the economy meals with a single dish and no trays anymore?

QF offer the same options for both cabins, just the crockery is nicer (well it actually exists) in Y+, and the food looks a little better (sometimes). Although they get the J wines in Y+.

At least on A330 and 747 routes (my partner is cabin crew).
