EDR General Promotions

Mr O’Brien said Woolworths was confident that it broadly had the best priced offerings for customers, but conceded Coles sometimes had the advantage.
‘‘We believe our offer is the leading offer in the marketplace,’’ he told an analyst briefing. ‘‘The gap (between Woolworths and Coles) jumps around a little bit but over a period of time, we’re confident we have the right position.’’
He said the company was running promotions to attract customers in a more targeted way than previously.

‘‘We know what promotions work, we know the effect that it has on customers is to a much greater extent than it did before, so we’re much more sensible in using our promotional dollars.

When I read this line, I lol!

Shoppers winners as Woolies prices fall

Bet they had a big week of funding points to this select group of EDR'ers. Might be a while before they come back with another offer ;)

Might work the other way too ??? It's a hell of a lot cheaper to fund marketing to a finite number of profitable EXISTING customers than spend truckloads on general marketing that might or might not bring a profitible result in proportion to the cost.

I reckon Woolies will simply cost the EDR points cost into the products etc and it will be Money for Jam for them and not too shabby for us as well especially if we watch the prices of the non bonus products to make sure we are not paying too much.

It must give them a buzz as well when they see what the lure of extra points does to the sales of the relevant products.

Shades of "Pavlov's Dog experiment" and we are the ones barking !!!

My bonus points still have appeared on my account.

Thing that concerns me is I didn't spend the $30. Was this a condition of the offer?

For the Select products, there was no minimum spend. Just needed to buy items in pairs.

Wholehearted agree with your comments. I wonder how long it takes them to realize that all of us (a small subset of the overall shopping public) have targeted the cheapest Select items and a lot of other people will have simply done their normal or near normal shopping and accepted whatever bonus points they have accrued.

We just happen to value the points (or understand the usage better) than the average shopper.

Bet they make the bar higher next time.

Looking the Wow catalogue for the next week and no bonus point offers at all... Just went past liquorland and a worker was sticking bonus points offers everywhere!

Hmmm, maybe it's time for me the try the local Liquorland - right next to the kids swimming. Bye BWS

Watched my first episode of "extreme couponing" today. If you want to play in the big league you need to get a shopping room to hold all the purchases.

Full of EDR purchases?

Taco's and cat food I guess!

Not here - I, like some others here, only bought things I could consume. Dogs love the topping for their dry food, we loved the tacos and I've been eating the rippled chips at work.

I think others have been good benefactors ;)
