EDR General Promotions

I don't know whether a thread has been created on the topic of 5% discount gift cards so I'm going to post the information here.

RACV outlets are now selling WISH cards at 5% discount.

The stores participating in this promotion are Chadstone, Doncaster, Fountain Gate, Frankston, Greensborough, Highpoint, Knox, Melbourne, Noble Park, Northland, Ringwood, Southland, Watergardens, Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Mildura, Sale, Shepparton, Traralgon, Warrnambool, Wodonga.

There is more information on the RACV site and I think I saw something about this option being available online but I can't remember the specific page you have to go to for the online sales.

Have been doing this here in Adelaide for over 15 months now, many thanks to Cove for showing me the way. On average I get $1.5k per month, this has resulted in saving me $1,125 since I started (~$900 per annum / $75 per month)

Sure its not a big saving but its an easy one and its no real trouble buying and using cards (RAA shop fronts in Adelaide do over the counter sales of these discounted cards, there is a limit on how many you can purchase per day which is $5,000) Card values available are $100 (Costing $95 ea) & $250 (Costing $237.50 ea) points are earnt on buying these cards if paying with VISA / MC

Using them at petrol outlets provides a great discount wen used in combination with the normal EDR fuel discount or points. Basically fuel at the sign price of $1.50/l paid for with one of these cards results in a $0.075/l discount (or $0.115/l discount when combined with the EDR fuel voucher)

It is always nice to cut your cost of living by a $50 note or two.
Doing Starthere into DanMurphys and paying with 5% off Wish Cards(bought on a points earning credit card) and getting free delivery on their specials is my favourite.

Hi all.
I registered for EDR last night.
Could someone point me towards the relevant posts which give an overview of how to extract the most value out of this program with respect to the general and bonus promotions.
Thanks.

Don't forget to sign up all family members, if applicable, using family pooling its a great way to harvest points.... If joining member is under 18, after you have correctly entered their DOB date during the application process, then log back into the EDR site and change it to a DOB which makes them 18+ so that they qualify for offers from BWS / Cellarmasters.

Doing this will make their QFF account have a correct DOB, while making them be able to receive BWS & Cellarmasters offers from EDR

The EDR targeted promotion thread has some great advice. As policies have changed from time to time from EDR you probably want to concentrate on the entries from 2012 and 2013.

My brief suggestions are, keep track of both the genral offers and all your targeted offers and try to work out ways of stacking multiple offers on your transactions.

Have all members of your household signed up to EDR to receive the most number of targeted offers.

Read the thread called "Trolley Run" or something similar for a bit of a laugh. I don't know whether a promotion like this will ever be run again.

I get mine from https://www.ambassadorcard.com.au, who also have Amart All Sports, Rebel Sports, JB Hifi, Coles, KMart, BCF, 1st Choice, Good Guys, Supercheap Auto, ABC Shop and Rays Outdoors for a 5% discount, as well as Westfield (+5% value on card) plus Harris Scarfe (10% discount).

It does cost $199 to become a member, but a lot of professional societies give you free membership. I pay around $300 a year for Australian Computer Society, which is tax deducible since I work in IT :)

This is excellent news. Thanks. I only spoke to my local RACV office last week about this

I have signed up my wife and myself now. Now its just wait till we go shopping :)
Whats the difference between a general and a targeted offer? (Not sure as my account has no offers showing yet.)

Yeah - wow. That would be the ticket! (pun intended!)

Bad idea. Illegal. Breach of section 140 of Criminal Law Consolidation Act.

A general offer is for all Everyday Rewards members. It can usually be taken up multiple times provided you have enough shopping needs to meet the conditions.

A targeted offer applies to specific members who receive an email. The correct card must be swiped at the checkout. Some targeted offers can be used more than once, but most are one use only. It will say this in the tiny print at the bottom of the email.

Targeted offers are usually based on your individual average weekly spending and the products you buy.

If you are lucky you will receive some easy basic targeted offers soon after you join. This is just to figure out what you usually spend.

If you use a targeted offer for a specific spend and spend a lot more than the target, EDR will usually increase the amount you need to spend for your next offer.

One strategy is to have one card for low transactions and one for large transactions so you will get a good balance between high and low qualifying spends for your targeted offers.

Oops. Thanks Anna, you dont know any contacts that I could engage to represent me when EDR find out and throw the book at me...?

However not sure (1) why they would want to. (2) how they would know the info entered is incorrect.

Interesting that the DOB can be changed on a daily / weekly basis on the EDR website (not sure since the website update)

Sorry I'm a petty criminal Anna :)

Alcohol sales to minors is a big problem in our society but we could get supplied at fourteen by our local and we didn't turn out totally weird. The drinking age dropped from 21 to 18 and that must have been around the Vietnam war years.
We don't want any AFFers having trouble getting into USA due to a recent criminal record!

I get my groceries delivered after work, usually with a few bottles of wine and a case of beer each week. I by no means look under age but the toll driver still asks for my ID before he hands over the booze.

It's not the potential underage drinking that's the issue, it's the giving of incorrect information in order to extract an offer or benefit that would not be given based on correct info.

When signing up the Junior members I guess someone could answer the question incorrectly...! "When were you born?" whoops I thought they were asking about my age, after all the question was not "Applicant date of birth"

Also, had a Cellarmasters delivery last week left by the front door, 16 bottles (112 standard drinks), nobody home, if the juveniles of our area were un-trustworthy they would have no issues obtaining liquor under age...

Sorry for the OT post...

Anna, I would have asked how you know such information, but I think I know why ;) Which raises one question, with such knowledge you must find yourself always on the right side of the law, that's such a burden knowing the human species is prone to making mistakes....do you ever do anything legally wrong, and if so do you get cut-up about it afterwards...:?:

I know you cant answer the first part of the question, after all if it was a positive answer to the first question you would be incriminating yourself... We can discuss in person when Newk pulls his finger out :D
