Re: (Eff Jan 14) Qantas increase points required for (some= discount Y) domestic upgr

Thanks for the rude reply. It was a question I asked, not a statement I made.

I can tell YOU now that the guys I work with, who will be using the Aquire-QFF points to upgrade themselves not the employees, and who currently buy red e-deals, will spend the company money on flexis if they think they can then use fewer points to upgrade themselves.

So you've answered the question yourself. There is no link.

Red edeals were always more expensive to upgrade over flexi tickets (remember not long ago you couldn't upgrade them either)

And considering there isn't a table on how many aspire points you will earn its a bit hard to say how companies will use them don't you think?

Yes I completely agree that as there isn't a table on how aspire (sic) will work, it's a bit hard for you to be making categoric statements as to how businesses will operate with it. I am asking a question and talking about the business I know. You are the one making generalisations and assumptions.

You made a statement saying it will deter businesses from buying red edeals. I fail to see the link so can you explain it?

It would be like me complaining to my company saying hey it's going to cost me 25% more points to upgrade now on a red edeal. So can you book me flexi savers instead. Your argument has no bearing on how businesses will book.

Re: (Eff Jan 14) Qantas increase points required for (some= discount Y) domestic upgr

Some people who fly for business will be more likely to buy flexi tickets if they want to upgrade to J and save points.

Maybe your company doesn't allow you to buy flexi tickets but it's not the case with many other companies who give their employees the freedom to choose.

Re: (Eff Jan 14) Qantas increase points required for (some= discount Y) domestic upgr

You made a statement

We will have to agree to disagree about that. I asked a question.

Your argument has no bearing on how businesses will book.

I have never purported to talk about how "businesses" will book. You are the one purporting to talk on behalf of all businesses. You may not think there is a potential link between the introduction of Aquire points, bosses using those Aquire/QFF points to upgrade their work fares, and the increase in points required to upgrade red e-deals. Fine. You're perfectly entitled to that view, although it would have been nicer if you expressed yourself less aggressively about it. But I am asking QF if it has made that link in increasing the number of upgrade points to be required for red e-deal fares. Maybe it hasn't. Frankly I don't really expect an answer from QF on here anyway.

There are plenty of posts here based on how companies book flights. I have not seen any which says their company upgrades them using points (and i don't see how as the points are individual of course Aquire points can be given to an employee).

And is it linked to the introduction of Aquire with the aim being to deter businesses from purchasing red e- deal fares if they want to upgrade using Aquire points converted to QFF points?

this was your original post. I'd like to know how will it deter them? that's my question. When a company books a ticket, there is no thought about points upgrades. And even then, in most cases it's on the employee to upgrade, nothing to do with the business. Most businesses have set policies and it usually relates to BFOD or edeal out flexi back. if there is something majorly different I'd love to know.

There is no sense whatsoever in your arguments.

Re: (Eff Jan 14) Qantas increase points required for (some= discount Y) domestic upgr

You are coming from the mindset of a corporate employee. Your generalisations do not apply to my business or the way that it will spend its Aquire points or its money. The fact that you can't understand what I'm asking QF and are so rude is far more reflective of you than of my question.

I'm asking you how it will deter businesses from booking red eDeals. You so far can only attack me. But i am interested seeing as I'm a "corporate employee" who musn't know how small business books travel...

Re: (Eff Jan 14) Qantas increase points required for (some= discount Y) domestic upgr

It's a devaluation which has to be tied to the introduction of the Aquire system for business, it's simple economics that when you effectively double the number of points being issued that you need to make sure that those points are worth much less.

Firstly you don't know the earning structure on Aquire. it hasn't been released yet. yes they have a promo of 500 points per booking atm, but it may be far less once that finishes..

so you really think that bumping up red eDeals by only 25%, on domestic routes is going to "recoup" the cost? surely if they were "funding" this new program, they'd bump up ALL upgrades?

10k points for a 90 minute flight isn't really worth it now, specially if you have status and can use the lounge
