Hi everyone, just wondering if it is possible to access the EK lounge in Sydney on a QF flight to the USA? QFF Gold status.
If access is possible, thought it might be worth a look at the EK lounge for something different?
Thanks in advance!

In a related question, is the Emirates First Lounge accessible to Qantas WP in Melbourne? I'll be on QF 093 to LAX. How does it compare to the QF First Lounge? Can you pop between the two?

Is there a First lounge in MEL?
.
Is there a First lounge in MEL?
There is a simple rule for lounges - in the "home" port the "home" airline will have the best lounge. For a start the EK lounge is a J/F lounge so no dedicated F experience. There is no spa, no chef cooking food to order and so on.
I think the interesting proposition will be SG access to the EK lounge in Melbourne. In a related question, is the Emirates First Lounge accessible to Qantas WP in Melbourne?
Do we actually have an official access policy available from QFF yet?
This does not specify that you can access any of those EK lounges when flying QF, whereas it is explicitly stated for Dubai. So does that not imply that EK lounge access (elsewhere) for QFF status is only available when flying EK (rather than QF)?For travel from 31 March 2013, Platinum One, Platinum and Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers will have access to the Emirates lounges where available across Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
I see in that brief where it states QFF status flying QF or EK has access to EK lounges in Dubai, but it is not clear that QFF status flying QF has EK lounge access elsewhere.
Point number one

Yes, that is a much more thorough explanation. Lounge access when departing on QF or EK metal is stipulated in that quote, where as it is missing in (point number one of) the quote from TheInsider and previous link.Does this clarify things for you?
But it can be a LONG walk from the EK lounge to the high-numbered gates that QF often use!Does not apply for BNE, EK lounge leaves QF for dead, and has direct boarding which will start to get used in October. EK offer consistency across their lounges which include food, so it won't always be reflecting local styles, a good overview here:
