EK380 Brisbane services announced.

If Qantas codeshares with Emirates, then presumably this makes the morning AKL-BNE-AKL Jetconnect run somewhat superfluous? (QF124/123, I believe). If the upgrade to the A380 adds enough seats to offset the loss of a QF737 (for example) then this will not be a net loss in capacity and QF will possibly get away with only operating the afternoon AKL/BNE run. (QF126/125). If so, perhaps they could use the available aircraft to do AKL-CBR(or ADL)-AKL-BNE-AKL each day. (Currently it flies to Brisbane and back twice from Auckland in one day).

EK433 and EK435 now has availability in First from Brisbane, using QFF...
May I ask which date(s) you were looking at? I can't find any EK results on the QFF site from BNE (or even SYD) to AKL. Can't find any commercial fares either. When going to multi-city and specifying 'First', it still returns the Y/J page with only QF flights. :(

BNE-DXB availability...

e.g. 18Apr14, 19Apr14, 20Apr14, 21Apr14

4 seats too...

I can almost feel myself applying for every credit card with bonus QFF application points.

But only if EK/QF sell the seats. Would not surprise me to see a reduction in QF metal trans Tasman, but with QF/EK seat capacity the same or even increase (to comply with the recent regulatory approval)
Reducing QF metal capacity is not a good outcome.

And we were worried about Jetstar....

Not if the 737 is moved to another area of the network that needs it, perhaps knocking JQ out of some of the services they've taken, such as CNS ;)

Or it could bolster services to ZQN and other similar destinations across the ditch that EK wont ever manage to fly into considering the size of their planes.

Somehow I do not think that is going to happen.

I think the idea of Qantas as a holding company is starting to look more feasible with each day.

By the way I am not being negative, just trying to understand what is going on.

Yes but very different, a shower comes in handy on that sort of duration.

Agreed - but the first post almost seemed to imply that F from BNE on EK services was a new thing. As an aside, I don't even think the A380 availability has been loaded yet (still showing in E/F and on EK website as 777) - so any F seats showing would still be on 777 craft anyway.

Any seats available would show as 777, before they turned into A380s, making them way more attractive.

Yep - agreed (again). I guess I was just confused overall by the comment because it implied that F was now available because of the A380 coming to Brisbane. Now I think I've just confused myself. ;)

Same same.. ;)
Not so much of a fan of EK, though it will give an extra alternate choice & extra capacity for the 'backwater" of BNE & the on board lounge bar looks impressive!

Staying at Jupiter's in TSV for the next few days .........QF/EK had one of the bars was closed off last night for a QF / EK road-show that is rolling around QLD to promote the gig to the travel industry ...........didn't look like a lot of coin had gone into the shmoosing...........
