I am flying out on 6/8.Prepoll voting starts 7/8.Nominations announced 30/7.Postal votes wont be posted out in the next week.On polling day I will be on a ship in the Arctic Circle.
So no way I will get a vote.So what ever happens i will be able to sport the bumper sticker-Dont blame me I didn't vote for these fools!

I am hoping that given we dont elect the PM - we elect our local representatives that I wont feel too guilty voting in Tony Abbott. The man is a fool with overt religious views that I think have no place in how we govern the country. Hopefully the rest of the party can keep him in check somewhat.

There is a loophole in the system. I currently fit into that loophole. If I choose to re-register (which I'm not forced to at the moment), I don't actually have to vote.

I'll let you do the research and work out why ;)

An interesting look at both sides here... Election 2010

As with anything, take this with a grain of salt ;)

I’m either throwing my vote away to the greens, pirates or sex party! :p

I'm off to enrol to vote today, my first opportunity to vote as an Australian Citizen. Since I am in a v.safe Labour seat ie 20% swing to unseat them I think I"ll follow Samh004 :D

A friend of mine (and her mother) are very active in the Sex Party... so I'd speak on their behalf saying that they'd be happy to have your vote Sam :D

It's what Day 2 of the Election Campaign & already i'm sick of it .

I turn on the tv i can see Gillard / Abbot.
I turn on the radio, they're talking about Gillard / Abbot.
I turn the news paper over & i can read about Gillard / Abbot.

I'm like what ever .
But would just like to say keep up the good work David Spears on Sky News .

After working on the last 2 federal elections and the last VIC state election, it feels odd not being in the middle of it all. :)

But thankfully I am back in time for polling day and been looking for somewhere to help out in on polling day. The local Labor Member in my area is pretty safe and got it all covered so I'm going to parachute myself off to some ultra marginal. The adjacent seat of Melbourne is shaping up to be a rather unique contest - and it'd be refreshing battling the Greens rather than the Coalition for a change.

Game on, indeed!

My seat (Bowman) looks interesting - currently held by LIB, but with a 0.01% margin. I'll be keen to see which way it comes out.

Well, rumours have it that ALP climate change policy to be announced on Friday will be an advisory panel of citizens who will be given a year or more to deliberate on the best action for climate change.

Talk about sitting on the fence

Will Citizen Rudd be invited or would they rather see him in NYC.;)

I don't want Rudd representing me or my country in any capacity at all. I thought Keating was arrogant, but he was a prince compared to Rudd.

I have seen some self-centred politicians in my life – indeed a sizeable ego is almost a requirement for the job – but the photograph showing ex-PM Kevin Rudd ignoring his Liberal opponent for the Federal seat of Griffith takes my breath away. He didn’t even glance in her direction before packing up and leaving. At the very least, a smile and a handshake is common courtesy, even amongst political rivals.

Kevin Rudd has redefined the term “oneupmanship”.

As for Julia, it's refreshing to see some humanity, some humour, some heart in a leader.

I can't say I've liked the way she's become her own advertising agency with the non-stop repetition of her campaign slogan, but my guess is that once she gets back on the air, she won't use it again. She won't have to. The media, the talkback radio callers, the Liberals - they are all doing the job for her!

Mmmm Dislike!

Hopefully the recently launched ABC 24 will either help shut Sky down or force them to improve dramatically. They are akin to no news IMHO :)

Now off to write QF a letter begging them to switch all the TVs in the
Clubs over :)

When does your sentence end?

Seconding the message for sky news to keep up the good work.

5 Agenda programs a day every day throughout the campaign, it's been fantastic viewing so far! Live crosses to the reporters following PM and Abbott, most press conferences live, etc. All good stuff!

Well the Rudd era is well and truly over.I had to spend the morning in Nambouring today.I noticed that the Tram Car cafe has closed down-famous for it's plaque-"PM Kevin Rudd worked here as a waiter in 1975".

I've really tried to avoid posting in this thread, but you got me skyring. :p I'd seen this in the paper earlier this week (note use of term "paper" when describing the courier mail - not "newspaper").

As a resident of the seat of Griffith, I was appalled at this behaviour. I certainly hope (but dont expext so) that those voters also in my electorate will factor this in. I certainly will be.

His BS excuse was to tell her to "line up like everyone else". What an arrogant ***** (my *s) to not even just say hello and shake hands quickly.

KR has done ZERO for the electorate of Griffith in the last term of government, and frankly, if he's busy trying to tie up all at the same time:

1. Griffith
2. Cabinet / foreign minister
3. NYC / Ban Kee Moon's advisory ("Climate change advisory - he hasnt done ANYTHING about climate change)

Which one do you think is going to get neglected if he "gets" all three.
