Hi There,

First time poster, long time lurker!

Not sure if this has been mentioned (did a quick search and found nothing). But I noticed this fine print in my Velocity Statement emailed today:

Eligible Sectors
On 25 August 2011, Eligible Sectors were introduced as an assessment criteria for upgrading and maintaining membership. Velocity will begin assessing membership levels based on Eligible Sectors flown from 25 August 2012*^.
*^An Eligible Sector is a flown journey from an origin to a destination on a Virgin Australia booking (DJ or VA Flight number).

And then this on the velocity website:

Terms and Conditions
*Eligible Sectors will be introduced as an assessment method for upgrading and maintaining membership from 25 August 2011 however Velocity will not assess your membership level based on the number of Eligible Sectors flown until 25 August 2012.

Anyone know how this is going to affect membership?

Cheers.

It just means those whose status changes/renews are effective after that date will have needed to meet the sectors flown requirement!

As the email said, I've had the note in my account online with words to that effect since last year, basically saying they were counting eligible sectors, but they wouldn't be 'assessed' until August 2012.

They're pretty generous though. As above, an eligible sector is any DJ or VA flight number:
Silver - 2 sectors
Gold - 4 sectors
Platinum - 8 sectors

Can someone please clarify: MEL to Newcastle via brisbane earns only MEL to Newcastle points and status credits with va/dj. Does this however count as 1 or 2 sectors for the mminimum sectors per year rule?

1 sector, DJ counting a sector as one flight including transfers where there is a direct option available.
