Hi All,

I'm really confused on these eligible sectors count, and not sure what to do, hopefully someone may help.

Last year, I should have switched over to Gold while on a family vacation to Europe, but it didn't happen, I had points expire, and it wasn't until a while later that I was upgraded to Gold.

I am now in my review period. I have 875 points achieved which requalifies me for Gold, but for some reason, the trips we took to OZ have not come off the Eligible Sector count and have sat at 2. Another flight to PER last week have not affected it and my review period is coming up.

Now, I was thinking of doing a points run up WLG to AKL as one flight and AKL to WLG just to see the end of it and have Gold for another year, but I'm in a bind, because there are no DJ or VA flights for NZ based folks, which seems a little unfair to me, no offense.

Can anyone help me understand, why my eligible sectors haven't come off, and do you think that Velocity should atleast count some of these domestic leg flights as eligible sectors for folks in New Zealand who are loyal to the Velocity scheme?

What flights were these that 'should have' counted but did not?

Atleast, it would seem practical to be able to view eligible sectors, just like points and status credits so you can review etc

It appears the PER flights, but I am really not sure how all of these eligible flights work.

For the elimination of any doubt:

Eligible Sector means a flight journey, from an origin to a destination:
(a) that has been flown;
(b) that has been purchased using cash or an Accepted Payment Card;
(c)(i) (for a flight journey flown prior to 13 January 2013) that has not been purchased in whole or in part using Points; or
(ii) (for a flight journey flown on or after 13 January 2013) that has not been booked as a Reward Seat;
(d) where Virgin Australia is the marketing carrier (this means that the flight number starts with a DJ or VA prefix).

See: Terms & Conditions | Velocity Frequent Flyer

Only VA marketed (that is, anything with a VA code including codeshares operated by partner airlines on eligible fare types) flights count towards Eligible Sectors.
Sorry to say that any Air NZ domestic flights won't count.

Have a flight coming up VA7533 CHC - SYD operated by Air NZ..I read the T&C's as quoted above but Velocity tell me today that this flight does not count as eligible sector. VFF can you please re clarify ?

If it's a revenue ticket purchased with the VA code, it will count as an eligible sector.

If your ticket was purchased through VA and the booking is a VA flight number then it will count as the T+C's are the final word... regardless of what the call centre thinks.

NB: The T+C's have changed recently.

21.2.1 Where a Member travels on a flight where Virgin Australia is the Marketing Carrier (irrespective of whether the Journey consists of Virgin Australia Domestic, Virgin Australia International Short Haul or Virgin Australia International Long Haul Flight Sectors), each Flight Sector will be considered an Eligible Sector.

Yes revenue ticket booked through VA. Thank you for your comments
