I just received an Email from Accor saying that I may choose a gift. Options were 6 months access to calm, six month access to press reader or a kobo mia e-reader worth $160.

While the first two seem like the typical free trial, I think the e-reader is actually kind of nice. I've been looking into buying one anyway. So thanks Accor.

Anyone else get this? What's the catch? Am I missing something?

This makes sense and isn't entirely unprecedented.

Platinums have received gifts in the past like a set of (cheap) bluetooth headphones, so a more substantial gift for Diamonds sounds right. I like the idea that they give you a choice rather than just sending you cough you may not use.

Make sure you actually click on "select your gift". The ereader wasn't mentioned in the email or on the linked page. So there might be a third option for you as well.

As Plat I got the pressreader and calm. No kobo reader. I took the press reader but the only Aus paper I could get was Guardian.

Agree, Australian newspaper options are garbage. Trimmed down version of Pressreader.
