Emirates A380 returns on SYD-CHC

I can see some J award availability but can’t see any for F using the QF multi city. Are there no F awards on this route or should I be searching elsewhere?

Having just been lurking around the F seats on this route and recently booking it, I can confidently say that Emirates seem to releasing atleast 2xF seats about 28 days prior to flight date if there are seats available. I managed to book for 2 of us SYD->CHC for early June.

The a380 might work for some travelers, but QF timings work well to justify the extra flights. QF mid morning flight allows for connections. As a semi-regular across the ditch, something about the smaller aircraft with shorter boarding times and smaller immigration queues works better. I’m taking the family to CHC in July. A380 experience on the way over, which includes extra cost of a night in SYD. Return on early morning QF 737 to make a connection.

So, for those who have done the SYD-CHC route, do you need to let the crew as soon as you board that you want to book the shower? What are the best seats on the A380? I put myself in 1K but 2 and 3 seem to have an additional window.

They come around and ask at the begining of the flight if you want a shower and offer the times available. 1K is missing the first window and slightly narrows towards the front. Don't think it would really matter. Haven't been in that seat though. Booked for Nov.

Row 2is the best with extra cupboard under window for shoes and junk.

I still have fond memories of catching that service ex Christchurch, but the EK lounge there was absolutely packed to the gills with drunk old Englishmen chugging down the booze.
Definitely not a glamorous experience

No EK lounge in CHC. EK, like QF, uses Manaia lounge (a contract lounge) that anyone can access on payment of a fee.

Looking at the timing of the SYD-CHC now it seems to be only on average half an hour late in departing and arrives on schedule. Bagged two business returns the other day cheaper than what QF wanted for biz on a 737. 43,800 points each way and still saw for 64,000 points in First.
