Emirates baggage interline to Qantas on different PNR?

And, amazingly, they've both effectively responded with "we don't know, ask them". With "them" being Qantas and Auckland Airport respectively. This is really silly.

My presumption has been the Qantas flights will be transit passenger free.

Yep, Qantas was always intending for these flights to have no transit passengers and now it's official. I can imagine there is a scramble going on in the Air NZ HQ right now because they were intending to allow both transit and non-transit passengers on the same flights including tomorrows.

This is exactly the sort of movement that Andrews is upset about now, and which would kill the “bubble” in an instant. Basically an attempt to come from a very high covid area, without going through quarantine. It’s hard to believe that people would even try it.

As someone in metropolitan Melbourne I can tell you I'm no longer surprised what selfish people are doing.

Mask wearing is quickly becoming random and sloppy. Even though no longer permitted scarves etc are still being worn. Lots of people carrying a coffee cup as a reason to not wear their mask. Smokers are crowding in doorways forcing people to walk through their effluent to get into buildings, no smoking signs are being ignored more than previously.

Staying the required distance isn't being observed by some people, even where there are markings.

Without knowing the full circumstances of the OP, I would suggest that they're not necessarily trying to avoid quarantine but rather just haven't been able to secure a seat on any other direct flights back to Australia. Most flights from Europe to Australia are currently sold out for the next month (or more); perhaps the Emirates flight to AKL still had seats.

In that case Matt, they should be sitting out the quarantine in NZ. Then they can travel via the bubble. Imaging the headlines if someone travelling from Spain was able even get on board one of the bubble flights.

One thing I would not risk, even if EK let you on the flight, without a voucher which is required for NZ quarantine and without any non-safe zone flights to SYD (NZ don't seem to be selling LAX-AKL-SYD any more), there's a chance that you'll be returned on the next EK flight back to DXB.

This is not allowed unless you're officially entering NZ, which as of right now is only for NZ citizens/PR's.

Dragging this thread off-topic but amazingly Auckland Airport/the NZ gov will let you stay in the "transit" area for up to 24 hours. Emirates should also let you board provided you can show proof of an onward flight but I'm not sure if they'd know the difference between a bubble flight or not.

Right now the only AKL-SYD quarantine (non-bubble) flights are on Air New Zealand and they plan on changing the flight number of it to NZ703 ensuring people understand they're on the correct service.
