First off Emirates has November SYD-BKK return get table for $750 odd via sky-scanner.

Air AsiaX is charging a normally for them, but removed the month view as it could be used to find out what Malaysians pay vs the Higher prices for Australian bookings. They now seem close.

Now Scoot SHOW in their tabs $225 that become $348 on their tabs with the forced overnight transit in Singapore, say 33 hours.

No contest, Emirates happy to be back (who also have the best business class too).

There's no such thing as long haul LCCs. The costs to the company simply don't allow for genuinely low fares... It's all about people perceptions.
You'd be amazed how many people just go to Jetstar.com and pay huge fares assuming they'll be cheaper than real airlines.

Exactly. LCC's are great if all your doing is the flight, by the time you add, food, baggage and a blanket you're often paying more!

And let's not forget those 14hr layover's on Air Asia.
