Emirates flights to Australia

Not sure how/why QF2 gets an exemption but all the best and hope it ends well for you
No idea, maybe they'll make us stay on the plane the whole time...

Also customer service reports that LHR T3 QF lounge is now closed, there goes my comfy 8 hour layover after domestic flight :/

Just an update. QF2 (on 23/3 GMT at least), is no longer stopping in SIN, instead will be a LHR-DWN-SYD service (so 16h+ first leg o_O). Unsure what this means for BA services through SIN? Not sure if QF flights are still operating to/from SG at all.

Woh ! So a second non stop UK to Australia route 😳. Is this with an A380?

Looks like Emirates has provided an update and a small number of destinations will be maintained beyond Wednesday, including in the UK and Australia, as long as demand is there.

And they've just changed their mind again, and are now once again shutting down all passenger services from Wednesday

"Emirates has again changed its decision on flights, temporarily suspending all passenger services for two weeks starting from 25 March 2020, the airline has just announced."

I am glad, as we made the last minute decision to fly back the other way now form the US.

Heathrow T3 is a relative ghost town right now (1:30pm), half of today's flights cancelled, nothing to the US here unless you wanted to go to Vancouver and try run across the border, though I think BA and Virgin are still running to US out of other terminals. EK flight is running today. I think I saw BA15 going through Singapore but not sure how that will work out

Qantas lounge closed to my great chagrin, but not surprised. Most retail outlets shuttered.

It's going to be a long wait til 22:05 (QF2 pushed back)

Wow! DRW back on the scene. For what it's worth, I began my QF career in the booking office on Mitchel Street in mid 1965. Previously served in RAAF there 62/63.
Fond memories of the Good Old Days dressed in Darwin Rig.

Great move. Should make it permanent. Although I suspect they can do this now with less passengers/weight at almost a 17 hour trip, I'm not sure if the economics stack up in the long term.

Odd routing this month:

Bummer that. The only airline that offered COVID insurance that lasts more than 30 days.
cheers skip

In mid-Feb 2021 I returned to Australia on Emirates, flying from Barcelona to Perth on EK 186 + EK 420. I’ve used some of my time in quarantine to put together a short YouTube video of the experience. It was so strange to fly in a 777 with just 39 passengers...

Enjoy!

Thanks for the trip report of your (almost) private jet experience! Looks like the man behind you in the lounge wasn't wearing a mask?
