Hi there

Emirates are having a sale to NZ with round trip fares at $310

Also if you have 12,500 EK points doing nothing you can upgrade these fares to J as EK have a upgrade offer of 12,500 one way and a free upgrade on the return.

You don't have to return to the departure point you left from.

You can do MEL-BNE via AKL or any of the other combinations across the Tasman. So for $310 +12500 points you can do MEL-AKL-BNE in J :D

Chauffer drive in MEL
EK Lounge in MEL
EK Lounge in AKL
Chauffer drive in BNE

Not a bad day out for $310:mrgreen:

Cheers

I think

1/ you forgot to work out the Taxes and charges, as EK quote before those.
2/ Chauffer I believe is not available for upgrades, only J tickets paid with $$$$$

Hi there

The sector fares in Y across the Tasman are $99 each + Taxes making $310 for a round trip.

As for Chauffer Drive, the EK website has this :

Chauffeur-drive service is only available to First and Business Class passengers holding tickets with confirmed reservations in First or Business Class. The service is not available to passengers who are waitlisted for an Emirates flight or for passengers collecting tickets on departure.

Chauffeur-drive service is available to Skywards Members and Frequent Flyer Members on other airlines redeeming miles for Emirates First and Business Class tickets.
and this:

Chauffeur-drive service is not available on complimentary tickets or complimentary upgrades from Economy Class to Business Class.

So the freebie upgrade is not valid for the chauffer, but the first sector is.

Still not a bad deal

Cheers

The 50% off upgrade expires Jan 31, whereas the $99 fares don't start till Feb 20.

Still, $310ish to NZ return is a great price.

Oops, still as you say $310 isn't bad and they start from Feb 1st the day after the upgrade offer expires:rolleyes:

The upgrade offer appears a few times a year so maybe buy a Y cheapie and hope it comes up again during your travel dates. $310 plus 25000 for the upgrade still isn't a bad deal

ps. should check these things out before becoming over refreshed.

Thanks OP

Just booked myself a quick visit to AKL in July, booked into the A380.

Total cost $328.

Haha its ok to get a bit over excited - the deal is still pretty good!

I thought advertising that way in Australia was illegal now... or just heavily frowned upon maybe.

But - if any avid A380 fans are around that is a pretty cheap joyride to fly on the big bird!!

Just booked myself a quick visit to AKL in July, booked into the A380.

EK's website is V nice and easy to use :p Well thought, user friendly and layout with photos is really well done.

Although I couldn't view the available seats prior to the confirming the booking (and paying via CC) - after confirmation, it leads you to the management of your booking including Seat Selection.

For both flights I managed to secure 45D for me, and 45E for partner.

The only seats unavailable/blocked were to be those "couple seats" in Rows 67 and 80.

Just wondering, whether all Sydney - Auckland services have AVOD on Y? I have never flown EK before and both me and my missus are keen for a try :) Is it better than new NZ trans-tasman product on Y? (I was quite happy with NZ Y during Xmas-New Year)

As I have not done any research have the EK SYD-AKL flights been replaced by A380s?

All Emirates flights are AVOD in Y, there are almost 900 channels of music and TV more than enough to keep passengers occupied for the short trip across the Tasman, maybe too many choices.

From 2nd Feb SYD-AKL-SYD becomes an A380.
