I believe Abu Dhabi and Dubai are in the same country. Abu Dhabi is like the Canberra of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai is like the Sydney of UAE.

UAE is a federation comprising of 7 "emirates" (or better known as "states" here).

Happy to stand corrected if i got any of the above wrong.

Quite true, bit like Malaysia in a way with its provences and Sultans but different as well! I know many people go to JB from SIN just to enjoy the novalty of a bridge border crossing.

Actually a long way from correct. The UAE is composed of a number of 'sovereign' sheikdoms. Economically, some are currently dependent on Abu Dhabi, but absolutely nothing like the Malaysian provincial governments.

Incidentally, anyone looking for cheap J class with Emirates should move to Europe. The disparity between UK-AUS-UK prices at current exchange rates and vice versa is obscene!

Nothing new there then.

And the main difference between Malaysia and UAE is... OIL.
