Emirates wifi

I have an upcoming Qantas booking with EK codeshares included (and my QFF attached to the booking). I understand you need an Emirates skywards account to use the wifi on board for free.

However, once on board is it possible to just put the details of a valid skywards account into my phone and use the wifi for free? Whilst keeping my QFF attached to my booking?

It won’t work because your skyward number is not on your booking. You need to get Qantas to put your EK number in. They refused me .

this is really annoying - and Qantas/Emirates should fix this up. Clearly if you are a QFF you are more than likely to have in your booking your Qantas number (especially if QF codeshare), even if your are also skywards member.

Even flying J or F, you cannot access wifi with the QFF number in the booking, and entering a valid skywards number will not work.

Recently my partner tried to change number at checkin - but was told as it was a QFF award booking they couldn’t change it is was stuck with QFF number in booking.

For me, QF gold, when in Y on EK, lounge access is worth more than the pathetic allowance that economy pax get on them.

Contrast to SQ who also provide wifi - in business class you don’t need to be a KF member at all and in economy you do - but they allow you to enter two FF programs - and even in economy wifi is theoretically unlimited (within reasonable use and available bandwidth constraints).

Nope. The benefit is based on FF number on ticket and for skyward members only, not those in codeshare. Other option is to pay for it if you can’t cope with 14 hours of peace and quiet.

Having traveled on Emirates yesterday, I didn't find the wifi very reliable (maybe too many people trying to use it). Even my colleague who paid for it, could barely use it.

I think the OP is a member of both. They booked through Qantas, who code share with Emirates, but the OP was asking if they could get the wifi on board using their Skywards membership. Based on your response, the answer should be yes. But it seems the answer is actually no, because their BOOKING is not linked to their skywards number.?

How did you get on? I am in the same boat. I have both QFF Gold and Skywards memberships. My flight was booked via Qantas, but I'm travelling in fully paid BC. I'm keen to know if I can access the wifi (free or paid)

if QF number in booking, you cannot access wifi.

The wifi only works with a skywards number in the booking.

I have the same issue.

I have no problem with EK fobbing off QF members.
Wifi for economy class is based on your loyalty to EK Skywards.

Frankly, I can't wait for the day that EK stops allowing QF Plats to enter the DXB F lounge.
QF Plat is nowhere near as easy to achieve as EK Plat. They are not like-for-like.
