English Paper Currency Being Withdrawn

I was in London then also, and had the same problem. However, a friendly bankteller told me to take my paper money to the Bank of England, which I did. Paper exchanged for plastic no problem.

I was in Scotland at the time. In the end we had amazing staff at the Hilton Glasgow, especially the valet/porters, so we gave them all away to them. Explained the issue to them and they seemed happy to take care of it and have a few drinks on us was the comment.

Please be aware that some Swiss banknotes have also been updated since COVID.

We took some old GBP notes to our friend in the UK, who was able to exchange them using his UK bank account but we knew nobody in Switzerland to assist us. We only had a couple of SFR100 notes to exchange.

Swiss National Bank (SNB) - New banknotes for Switzerland

So we took our notes to this rather imposing building on the Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. The main office of the Swiss National Bank. We walked around and there were no obvious public entrances, only a door with security cameras and code readers. We were about to give up when a very pleasant man came out and asked us if we were there to exchange money. When we asked how he knew, he said that he had a few dozen tourists a day doing exactly the same thing. Even the teller who gave us new notes was happy to chat. Not like other Swiss I have dealt with.
