We Got 5 trips planned over the next 10 months! Can't for anymore 'jollies 'in.

Our Minister for Household Finance says no. He pointed out that we'd only be doing this to take advantage of a good deal rather than an actual want to be there. We've also got a separate trip booked to Malaysia over Easter so makes sense I guess. I'll just wait till the W KL opens before we head back again.

I was successful in getting 2 x J SYD/KUL on 1/1/14 and then 2 x F class KUL /LHR for 200,000 miles plus $1000 in taxes (approx)

I had J/F tix booked on QF SYD/DXB/LHR for around 400,000 points plus around $1000 in taxes.

Just saved me 200,000 points )

I prefer MH F class as a product over QF anyday on A380

I transferred points from Amex on Wednesday 4th 8am, still not arrived. Amex said it would take 2 days. Malaysia now say it'll take a week, but might be there on Monday morning!
looks like they sucked me in...

That is disappointing to hear. From experience SQ and VS usually take ~24 hours if not less.

the risk with this MH promotion only going for a week is that you get points to Enrich, miss the 50% discount and then have ot book a MH flight

You cannot cancel an MH booking and get your points back which is a great shame as FF seats are readily available

Its the same as Virgin used to be

Maybe one day MH will allow points refunds and then we can use with hopes of good J/F availability like you get with TG

The executive summary is that it wasn't easy, and I was on hold for a long time. I think I am now in possession of tickets for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant BNE-KUL (1 day stop-over) KUL-LHR (3 week holiday) CDG-KUL (1 day stop-over) KUL-BNE. Taxes and infant ticket cost for all sectors and all passengers approx $4000 and 285000 MR points total. Given that paid tickets can be had for ~$16000, I guess it was worth it, but it did take a long time to finalise.

Seat selection? I'll do that another night!

Does this type of promotion happen regularly? Would you recommend pre-empting these sort of delays and transferring your MR points to Enrich well beforehand? My goal is to travel on MH in J on their A380 from SYD-LHR-SYD. Appreciate any advice offered.

The regular price SYD LHR SYD is 102K. The 50% off reduction only applies to journeys originating or finishing in KUL. If you split SYD KUL and KUL LHR return (gaining the ability to stop over in KL both ways to Europe the price during the promotion is 95K. So the points benefit is minimal but you do get stop overs (which you otherwise wouldn't).

About once per year.

If SYD-LHR-SYD is you goal. Why wait?

7K is not much different and to save the 7K you must book 2 different flights and bare the risk of any flight changes, or delays . So if you book with minimal delay if your first flight is delayed you will blow the second flight. so unless you really want to have a long gap and hence stop-over each way with the lost time and accommdation costs, IMO much better to just book the flight at 102K and speed up the trip without the risk of possible mis-connecting flights.


Note that if you book online that the 50% discount includes the 15% that you gain normally.

1MR = 1 Enrich mile. Most of us have not been paying attention for too long.
