Qantas Wine latest offering

Am guessing this has just changed. The site is very specific now that you have to be a QFF member, which they give you free now through Qantas Wine.

I had ordered the Haselgrove SWITCH GSM. Great price and great points. Am really impressed with this wine. I cannot recall having it in the air, but according to the QF site they serve it in business. @JohnM I think you would really like it.

Rymill Coonawarra Cabernet 2015 is a steal at the moment
Use voucher WINE1019 for $50 off and receive 5000 bonus points.
Landed cost sub $10 a bottle if you value points.

Rymill Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
I can see the Rymill offer, but the Haselgrove and Heirloom dont appear, and I have had Epicure membership for a while - perhaps that's expired and you don't get notified perhaps?

Deals come and go, these were from mid-September. The Haselgrove Switch GSM is there, but no bonus points now. Haselgrove wines can often be had quite cheaply on Vinomofo.
The Heirloom Alcala Grenache has moved on to the 2018 vintage, no bonus points currently, but may come back later. But is its only single-bottle buy presently, so maybe there isn't much of it.

Bonus point deals change pretty much week by week, with some carry-over, some new, some gone. It's all a game, to be won by us with a little patience.

As it happened, received another QF Epicure email at 0209 this morning, repeating the Rymill offer, and also confirming my Premium status. I guess your'e right, as our best PM John Howard used to say, be alert but not alarmed...

Can anyone offer any tips / FAQ's for a newbie to Qantas Wine?

I've seen people comment in the main Qantas Frequent Flyer forum that this is a really good points earner. (For example, "spending $480 on wine and getting 15,000 points" - plus presumably some decent amount of wine for that!)

I'm not a big wine drinker (normally limit myself to the occasional $20 bottles of NZ Sauv Blanc), but I do like to give wine to friends and colleagues, so wouldn't mind having a case or two on hand.

But I'm patient and happy to wait for a deal - just don't know how to recognise a good one.

'Deal' is subjective. If you see a wine you like/want, at a price you are happy with and it comes with a reasonable bonus point offering, go for it.

Hi jpp42, here are some really basic things that I do:

Keep an eye out here, this thread and this thread, as deals will be discussed regularly.

Ask questions here if you are unsure about the value of a deal, many of the deals Qantas offers may actually be cheaper elsewhere; some labels are particularly egregious in this regard (e.g. Curtis).

Calculate a rough 'price per point' ratio usually 1c per point and use this to compare prices across retailers (i.e. 15,000 bonus points is roughly $150, although I work at a lower ratio personally).

I assume everybody got the 'Christmas Bonus Points Bonanza' this morn?

No bonus points and I have not priced them individually but on surface I thought this was a pretty good deal - 2012 - A wine odyssey - I have used up any codes floating about but I think I will get the Ette to use a code on this pack tonight.

Edit: If I can get code to work will bring per bott price down to $67.17 - pretty well best I can calculate using 6 pack pricing at Dan's is ave $97.73 ea - that's a deal for me.

Not sure if this is targeted, but I received an email this morning for a case of d'Arenberg d'Arry's Original Grenache Shiraz 2017 for $198 + free shipping + 5k Qantas points. See link here.

$12.33 per bottle after $50 voucher, or $16.50 without a voucher. Dan's has the 2016 vintage for $18.10.

Many thanks. Managed to find a voucher that worked. Good value for an everyday wine.
