Do you think QF is using Q class, and E class, more often to put a stop to people crediting flights to AAdvantage or other Oneworld FF programs? From memory aren't most QF domestic NZ flights booked in Q class?AALovers are going to love that!!!!!
(Actually, my red-e-deal to HKG soon is booked in Q class. Looks like Qantas is using them more and more these days... )

And that is one of the things I like most about the QFF program. It may not be great for FF points required in redeeming flights but it is one of the best for earning FF points on all flights. I do not have to worry about any of the discount economy codes not earning FF points and I hope this does not change in the future....If they were truly nasty, then they'd remove earning on Q class themselves.
It looks to me that QF are just trying to introduce a couple of price levels that smooth out the jumps between fares to present consistant buy points.DJ already appear to have $10-$20 incremental gaps between fares, it looks like QF are now doinf likewiseDo you think QF is using Q class, and E class, more often to put a stop to people crediting flights to AAdvantage or other Oneworld FF programs? I doubt this to be the case. I do not expect there are many people attaining AA status and many miles using QF red-e-deals. If using red-e-deals for lots of QF domestic flights, then QF is likely to be a more rewarding program.Do you think QF is using Q class, and E class, more often to put a stop to people crediting flights to AAdvantage or other Oneworld FF programs? The people who find best advantage using AA's program are those who purchase B and Y fares for domestic travel, not those purchasing the cheapest sale fares.
While your statement is correct, I was doubting the suggestion that Qantas is making more use of Q and E red-e-deals for the purpose of reducing the earnings of AAdvantage members. I doubt that issue even crossed the minds of the people setting the fares.OTOH every AA elite who vacations in Oz is reasonably likely to be interested in more than the point to point fare (even if open jaw). And one look at the flexi and flexi saver fares on the QF web site they will be buying red-e-deals. And hoping not to get E Q or N class fares. They won't need the segments for qualification but they will want miles for the segment. And the transparency of the fare classes on a number of airline websites (including QF's) leaves a great deal to be desired. At least with AA and CX (and I think BA) there are obvious ways to check if you wish.
Effective for sale and travel at approximately 2200 AEDT tonight (Wednesday 28 January 2009), Qantas will make the following changes to the fare tariffs on SYDPERvv, MELPERvv, BNEPERvv and ADLPERvv:
- A new fare basis code of QPTWEBU (booked in Q class) will be added to the Red eDeal fare family and will be governed by the standard fare conditions applying to domestic Red eDeal fares;
- Various pricing adjustments will be made to the existing fares within the four tariffs (up to and including MPXO);
- An equivalent QSXI and QPTKIX will also be added to facilitate inbound and outbound selling; and
- An EPTWEBU fare will be implemented to the fare tariffs on SYDPERvv and BNEPERvv to compliment the existing EPTWEBU offering on MELPERvv and ADLPERvv. These fares will be inventory controlled and not available on all days and/or flights.
