Has anyone had error code (15079 - 23951 - 420) come up when booking a rewards flight and resolved it without having to ring the call centre? There's a projected two hour wait for this non-status flyer :(

I'm looking at the booking the itinerary below - do you think it's the Nordic Regional Airlines flight which might be the issue? Perhaps I could try booking that as a separate ticket...?

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps it's a warning that you'll just miss the AFF lounge crawl in SIN:

If the booking engine shows them they should be *allowed* to be booked (ie they satisfy all the rules around the choice and mix of carriers, etc).

Whether or not the availability is real, vs phantom, could be an issue. Or it could be a QF website issue.

Hmm yes good point. Thanks.

I had the same message come up months back when trying to book flights for my father in his account. I rang him, he did it on his end, and all went through fine. So perhaps it's a glitch. (I've tried different browsers and computers just in case...). I'll try again in the morning before I do the dreaded hours-long hold to the call centre.

Out of interest - would you try working around it by booking the CDG-HEL leg separately? What would the potential issues of this approach be...?

The major issue would be any delays… you won’t be protected on two separate tickets.

According to the finnair website they only check your bags to the destination listed on the ticket. If you have two tickets you have to claim your bags at the end of the first ticket (and enter finland). I dunno if they have special rules for connecting between award tickets. Does my baggage go straight to destination?. (doing some research I found a thread in another forum from 2018 where finair’s policy allowed through check on separate tickets if both issued by Finnair. That wording has been removed from the link above, and your tickets will be issued by Qantas in any case.)

Sorry to reopen an old thread but I trying to book a rewards flight and getting the exact same error message right before the payments page. Just wondering if you managed to get around this issue or if had to book via the Call Centre?

Given you got to payment page, check if the booking is actually in your 'manage my bookings'. If it is then the problem was payment so you will need to call

I wasn’t able to make payment, if I didn’t get that error message I would have been able to get to the payments page

Called yesterday (730pm) and got a gem in HBA who put together a fare i found online (able to repeatedly find and select like above) but crashed whenever i tried to pay (this was a paid open jaw EU trip).

Interestingly, also flights touched AY but also EK, and QF38 (*subject to regulatory approval) so wasn’t entirely clear where to snag emerged, but conclusion was either QF38 or AY. So based on n=2 it’s AY131 that’s the problem ;-)

Solution eventually worked out was to build the itinerary backwards - confirm QF38, then AY leg 2, then AY leg 1, then EK, EK, QF etc.

But i think you’ll have to call to solve it……

And if they cant (have difficulty trying to) book it forwards, suggest they build it backwards…..

Another recent data point(s) - QFF redemptions on BA. Two separate EU short haul flights.

First booking on line errored out (similar to above) - call to book.

Call - flights re-found, CC taken for the copay. “Will ticket shortly”.

Two days later - no e-ticket - Call - “will ticket shortly”

Two more days - still no e-ticket - call - “they didnt process it correctly, hold the line whilst you wait for the e-ticket to come through”. (To this agent I had spelt out that i did not want to lose the seats waiting for QF to ticket….)

So three calls to purchase what should have been done a) online and b) correctly the first two times.

(Deleted with apologies - my bad - @FlyingFiona was the OP, not @Princess Fiona )

"......build the itinerary backwards......"

Good luck in finding many non Hobart agents who can do that !

Perhaps the error is because I have a Malaysian flight in the middle of the itinerary?

either way this is a good thread and perhaps someone has new advice since the previous post from last year or longer ago?

Thanks in advance

I managed to do this with a Cape Town agent a few months ago. Instead of explicitly asking them to build it backwards, I just gave them the sectors in reverse order.
