There’s a LOT of mentions of NordVPN on several travel blogs etc.

So does HolaFly. It offers “unlimited” data. Whilst that’s terribly convenient, it’s hideously expensive - unless of course you’re an “effluencer” sponsored by HolaFly!

used it in Dubai for 8 days last December and no issues at all. Connected to the local DU network

There should still be freebie 500MB (or even 1GB) promo around. Even just 500MB of Global data valid for 2yrs is very handy as a back up or when passing through somewhere.

Pricing is otherwise similar to several others but the long validity is handy. They also have reasonably regular promos.

Thanks for that, about to spend 2 days in NZ and won't need much data.(Was otherwise going to roam for $10.)

Yes, sorry I didn't mean to give the impression it was a data only sim. It's an impressive amount of call allowance too, particularly internationally - great if you have business back in Australia to deal with and can't WhatsApp.
