Quick question - does anybody know how long the US Visa Waiver program via ESTA lasts for?

I know it is limited to visits for 90 days or less but when does it expire and need to be re-applied for?

I'm on to the 5th link and so far no joy in finding any answer.

and on the 7th link - it seems like two years.

Does that sound correct?

Sounds right. We got emails just before they expired as well.

Can you log into the esta site to check dates?

Thanks for fast service!

Tried that but now requires a Group ID which seems to be a new requirement since I got my one in Aug 2016. Curiously enough I could not find any emails but finally tracked down my screen prints and has expiry date of August 2018 on approval.

Y E S!

Im assuming you havent received a new passport since you got your ESTA? If yes, new passport, you will need a new ESTA.

Thanks for your diligence!

No passport lasts a few more years. A Good point though when getting visas that I had not thought of previously -early renewal for passport can be a time saver.

Best to leave ESTA application closer to departure date as ESTA lasts for two years from the date of application. Made the mistake of early application, now realise will be travelling to LOTFAP for third time within 20 months but will need new ESTA.

Yes, it's max two years for an ESTA with the one Passport - but can be less if your passport is due to expire.

When I last renewed my ESTA (4th on the one passport) it was just 18 months before PP expiry - my ESTA expiry was automatically adjusted to that date (i.e. less than the standard two years).

In reality I had much less than that since I had to get a new one before there was less than 6 months left.

Some countries allow less than six month for Australian Passports, but not all check in circumstances take that into account; people and/or machines can fail. e.g. Qantas.com/yourbooking APIS wouldn't accept an Australian PP with less than 6 months validity for USA travel when "... need only have a passport valid for ... intended period of stay ...".
