Thanks again Mel - that clears things up. In particular, the gifting provisions as I had some idea of gifting points in one direction or another amongst the family, but had not looked closely at it. The fact that the gifted points count towards the 150K max now precludes that, but on the other hand, wife and I are now in a new calendar year and are able to purchase our own points to meet our future needs. Also happy to say that the ticket confirmation came thru from AA last night. Again though, and probably no big issue, last nights email had one record locator but with both of us named in the ticketing box, whilst the outbound booking made a few weeks before had the same locator but we were ticketed on separate emails. I booked EY w' my AA points and on both flights I could not do an on line check in. When I called EY, the operator said it may be because it was not booked via EY.

Indeed the case. Called to confirmed my existing chauffeur booking and was told that if I make any changes to the existing booking, chauffeur is not provided. Wonder if this is the case for other partner booking as well.

Really? I've a VA booking in December and 2 AA bookings in Jan and hadn't booked chauffeur yet as its still pretty early. I'd read the OMAAT article as existing bookings would still be valid, but on the sounds of your call mmchow, I may not be able to book one at all. Removes a lot of value from the etihad award - the chauffeur at Heathrow is worth a lot IMO.

My + 1 has an EY J Flight Lhr-Syd coming up shortly, which was booked with AA miles ages ago; when i try to book a chauffeur online on the EY website, it says not eligible

I've just checked online and both AA and VA options still allow me to view and add a reservation. I'm not sure exactly where and when I want my transfers yet, so I haven't booked it to completion, but it at least shows me which sectors I'm eligible for booking on. Hopefully it allows me to complete and doesn't refuse me at the end.

kpc - when did you get the eligibility error message? Were you using your AA booking reference? You need to use the EY booking reference to book the chauffeur - or did you use that and still have problems?

Interesting. I've just logged-in to Etihad Chauffeur website and managed to confirm a pick up online.
For reference my booking was done pre-devaluation.

Back in March I was only able to book F on the AUH-MEL 777 aircraft & was planning to search for availability on the A380 closer to departure but I may now miss out on the chauffeur if I do that. Decisions, decisions.

Upgrading from B777 F to A380 Apartment worth the extra money you may need to pay for Uber/Taxi.

Had not been able to book the chauffeur online despite having the EY ref#. Just confirming if this is the right place to book the chauffeur?

Don't get why it works for some but not for others if all tickets were booked in a similar way using AA miles.

I hope those who couldn't do it online will call EY and get successful result over the phone.

A380 F availability ex-MEL just became almost wide open through the end of Dec. Time to make the switch!

I have been keeping a close watch for Nov availability and took 2 of em.
Also confirmed with Etihad that the chauffeur restriction is only applicable to AA redemption for now.
