Next week Etihad is announcing 10 new destinations. Been a few rumours around the traps that Perth could be returning. With the news that the Virgin codeshare is now coming to an end, I am somewhat skeptical that this might occur.

The promo image they have released is most certainly a WA beach however.

Couldn't they make it start in May?

Returning to PER would make a lot of sense and overdue. As would be ADL and BNE.

Another hint was one of the routes was a prior Etihad destination. They will be dropping further hints later this week to see if the public can guess any of them.

The two hints so far is the promo shot above which is clearly Broome/Kimberley, and a video they shot which resembles a WA beach.

Definitely a win for WA even if it’s a 787.

The hint video is out. I cannot make any Oz references but certainly can see some. The one prior EY destination as part of the 10 which was also hinted at, seems to be HKG.

Taipei (painting)
Hong Kong (book)
Stockholm (three crowns on mug)
Chinese City
Lanterns Painting- Da Nang
City of Kings sticker- Lima
Elbphilharmonie- Hamburg
Tunis (see Carthage on hoody)

Quite a few A321LR routes in there to "secondary" destinations in Asia that probably lack demand to support daily wide-body flights. Good to see the A321LR being used as it's designed and resulting in actual new routes!

As a side note, there were quite a few red herrings in the Etihad teaser. Etihad has a history of this with its pre-announcements, so I think I'll pay less attention to them in future.

Yes I think I looked to much into it, I mean, the original launch presser had a Broome Beach in the marketing. They don’t even fly to WA, not seemed to have any intention to!

I still think EY is strong enough to upsize MEL and SYD to double daily, and bring the A350 down under. They obviously see more value in Europe and Asia.

Was also a bit of media around a Philadelphia route with a few hints in the clip. Sadly proved wrong.

Aren't they already double daily to both MEL and SYD already?

They might return to PER at the next route announcements in 2025 where they will supposedly announce 20 additional routes!

Only daily currently i think.

Yes 20!!! new destinations to come so wait and see i guess.

I think EY will gradually (eventually) bring up SYD and MEL to double daily (perhaps NS26 if not then NW26/27) after the first tranche of increases for SYD and MEL occur in NS25.
